Daycare moms- question about labeling
DS starts daycare tomorrow. how do you label everything? Do you write on the cups with permanent marker? Do you label things like shoes, coat, etc? It was suggested I do this.
Thanks!

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
used regular labels and markers and masking (sp) tape for the bottles and wrote with marker. I ordered a stamp for his clothes and blackets and stuff. for shoes maybe label the bottoms.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
i got mabel's labels - but yes, I label EVERYTHING -
They asked us to, many don't.
I do - mostly b/c I have gone home w/ other people's clothes, cups, spoons, etc - and it annoys me - And i have seen them on ocassion use someone else's spoon/dish for him -
I was able to kind of throw a fit b/c I was TOLD to label everything, I spent a small fortune to comply w/ THEIR procedure, and then they use some unlabeled, god knows who's spoon/bib/dish etc .........KWIM? No, sorry, if it doesn't have his name on it, it's NOT his, don't use it.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
I started out labelling everything, but later only labelled bottles and sippie cups. I tried the iron on Mabel's labels and thought they were terrible, I would try the other type, I think people have better luck with them. I used a combination of sharpies and labels from my label maker for the bottles and cups. Our daycare used disposable dished and spoons, so I didn't have to worry about that.
In the year and a half he has been there, I only lost one shirt, which was labelled and he usually goes to daycare in hand me down clothes, or not his best ones, so if I did lose a shirt or a pair of pants, I wouldn't get that upset about it.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
DS started daycare today. I bought labels from Name Bubbles. I labeled everything expect his pacifier. I was too scared that the label would come off and he would swallow it. You can use a sharpie or a label maker to label things.
Don't forget to label the wipes box and the diaper cream (if you use).

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
I use Mabel's labels for her bottles, formula, bowls, and lids. I bring her extra clothes in freezer zip lock bags with her name on it for each spare outfit.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
I also use Mabel's Labels, but I really only put labels on her clothes and her bottles, and she doesn't take bottles anymore.
Just a tip - when she did take bottles my DH also put a label on the lid to the bottle because before that, I can't tell you how many different lids came home on her bottles... which I never really understood because if you look you can see that a bottle lid that says Playtex probably doesn't belong on a bottle that says Dr. Browns on it but what do I know.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
stuck on you labels work GREAT
They can go through the dishwasher, never fade, but come off easily when you want them to. Perfect, IMO.
Become a fan on FB and you get 10% off. Seriously, I love them so much I probably sound like an ad for them!

Mabel's Labels for bottles, cups etc
I used Mabels Labels when DD was in Daycare and they are great. They really hold up well. However there were two other girls in her class with the same colored labels and it made it easy to mix their stuff up. If you go with these, I would suggest picking an unpopular color.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
I also use Mabel's labels. I label all of her bottles, sippys, utensils, clothes, blankets, sheets etc. Make sure you label all parts of an item as well-- the bowl AND lid, the sippy AND cov er etc.

Re: Daycare moms- question about labeling
I use Mabel's Labels for so many things. I've become a lot more lax about labeling, though. For example, when I send extra clothes for him, I only label them if I have time. Often I find out mid-week that he needs more extra clothing at school, so I grab something on the go and it may be something I never had a chance to label. It's usually something like a simple pair of sweats, where it is not a big deal if they get lost. So far we haven't lost anything anyway. I check his cubbie all the time. I'm not crazy about Sharpie markers for kids stuff because I feel like there have to be some bad chemicals in them and the ink does chip off sometimes. I love the Mabel's Labels tag mates. I stopped labeling shoes even though they are often the most expensive part of his wardrobe.
