Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
I have been wearing flip flops for about 5 months out of the year for as long as I can remember.
Nothing comes between me and my flip flops!

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
i LOVE LOVE my flip flops. As unattractive as they may be sometimes nothing beats Nike Celsos. They have more cushion than some shoes I own.

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
you know it is funny you post this - the other day i'm standing next to kenneth's bed and i look down at my feet - VERY close to the disgusting floor of the ICU - then, I glance up at Kenneth's bag-o-urine (lol) and i'm like eeeeekkkkk -- since then, to the hospital, i've been wearing sneaks as much as possible.
grossed me out.

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
I see people with HORRIBLE feet on my table all the time. And I know if they wear flip flop or heels, etc..
Whether we like flip flop or not, this is not the problem.
They offer NO support what so ever. I see people with arch collapse, plantar fasciatis, etc... Not all caused by flip flops but they are a major contributor. They offer no support. People have even lots of muscles pain in their legs due to that. Not knowing it's because of their shoes.
Don't get me started on heels....

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
Honestly- the only shoes that don't hurt my feet are flip flops.
I have such wide feet- that nothing is ever comfortable.
I feel like I am doing a heck of a lot more foot damage in regular shoes than flip flops to be honest....

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
None of it surprises me. I've actually pondered it several times since feet are sooo close to the ground.
Even though I wear them, it does skeeve me out if I have them on all day. As soon as I get home I must wash both feet and flip flop. The closeness to all the germs is a bit skeevatz. lol

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
Well, I don't think women's shoes are all that great for our feet. Heels, stillettos...come on. Even our flats are bad according to my podiatrist since they don't provide any arch support.
Unless your shopping at Easy Spirit or wearing sneakers or orthotics, we don't get any arch support and the rest of our shoes are bad for us anyway. I find flip flops to be the lesser of the evils, so I'll stick with them.

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
So my mom was right when she used to tell my dad not to drive home from the beach in flip flops!
I only like them for around the house & pedicures. I can't walk very far in them & wearing them in the mall, on the subway, etc seems gross to me.
Shelly is right though, lots of shoes are bad for your feet. I am actually having a hard time right now finding shoes that don't cause foot problems.

I have that problem too, which is why I put them on when I get home, but my ankles hurt if I try to walk anywhere in them.

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
I only wear them on weekends, so I'm not worried.
I am more likely to hurt my toes when I'm home, like when I stubbed them on the couch legs last week

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
What a retarded article! I think it's ridiculous that they tried to make it seem so scientific and noteworthy. OBVIOUSLY there's no arch support, but HOW does that differ from 90% of the other choices of footwear out there?
And the whole trying-to-induce-fear based on the staph/fungus/whatever concept.... try swabbing the inside of your running sneakers after a god workout (or, a few days later when it's had time to sit and fester )
You have particles of e. coli on your face- no need to worry yourself about the staph that may come in contact with your feet

Re: DANGERS OF FLIP FLOPS
I wear mine year round and I won't stop. Shoes are a manmade item, if humans didn't decide we should wear shoes we'd be barefoot.
I love love love flip flops. I'm not giving them up.
