Do you let your girls wear makeup to the recital? I have no problem with dh is freaking out. I just feel like it's part of the costume and with the stage lighting you sort of need it.

This will be my DD's first recital and they want all the kids to wear lipstick and a little blush. So yes, she will be wearing it.

This year will be my DD's second recital. She was 3 last year and 4 this year. My DH didn't say anything about make-up as I don't think he realized this is something that is done. I was the one that had the hang-up about putting make-up on my 3 year old.
But I saw how she looked on stage at the dress rehearsal and decided she needed a little something.
I had one of the older girls - who was actually an assistant in her class - put on eye shadow, blush and lipstick. She looked really cute and looked much better on stage for the actual show.

My girls are 9 and (almost) 8 and have been dancing since age 3. No, they don't wear makeup. Maybe around age 7 they wore a little blush? To be honest, I don't think anyone is looking at--or caring about--your daughter's face except you. Unless she's wearing hooker makeup...then probably people would be judging  Personally, I think it's not necessary in the least for little ones; they're not in the Rockettes, kwim? But in the end, I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with a little blush or lipgloss...

My DD is only an infant but I love makeup and think it is cute when the little girls wear it for their recital so it is something I think I will do.

no DD, but I was the dancer, I started at just about 3, and I wore make up for all of my recitals and "glamor shots" for the shows.

Last year was DD 's first recital (3years old )
I let her wear eye shadow blush and lipstick but refused to put on the mascara and eye liner
I will be doing the same for this year.
At first I was completely against it but it actually looked very cute with the costume and hair

Glad to see I'm not alone. I don't see it as a big deal. I'm not going to let them wear it everyday. I was just going to do blush, lipstick and maybe eye shadow.

Not a Dance mom but a cheer mom and we have to all have matching make up done for competitions. Our girls are between 4 and 6 for this last one. It really is cute and its a one time thing.

The only thing I provide is the mascara, the school has a professional do all the girls make up its just eye shadow and blush...we apply our own lip stick which I also use mine.

Growing up in dance it was required. Don't see any issue with it what so ever.

I have a dance school and I leave this up to the parents. I don't feel strongly about it one way or another, so I leave it up to their discretion. Most kids do wear a little eye shadow, blush and lipgloss/light colored lipstick. If I had a dd, I would put light makeup on her.

My girls were in dance at 3 and wore make up to their recital. The bright red lipstick, blush and the eye shadow. One daughter, who is now six, continued with dance and will wear the makeup again. I don't see the big deal with it. The studio says to wear it, so she wears it.

My DDs have danced for 6 years and have always worn makeup for the dress rehearsal and recital. The lights on the stage wash them out so I have always put it on them. At 2.5/3 I started with lipstick and light blush...now at 7-8 they wear full stage makeup (light foundation, mascara, blush, lipstick).

I will say that the older boys who dance at our studio do wear stage makeup (foundation to even skin tone, powder, and some blush to brighten face). I have only girls, but I wouldn't have an issue with it and I doubt my husband would either.

My son is in dance and no I have not. If the teacher required a special face paint then I would do that.
I will say that twice they had to put a little foundation on my sons eyes for acting because it was early and he had bags or a little scratch. I've been told by photographers & makeup artist that kids don't ever really need makeup because they are young and usually their skin is great.
If I had a little daughter I think I would do light blush and lipstick.
