Cycles Issues!!!!!
I spoke with my doctor regarding my cycles! I ahve no idea what is going on! I have been spotting for 2 days on again off again every 2 or 3 weeks. She ran a complete blood work on me which everything came back normal..I don't have PCOS. She is prescribing Provera for my period to start. It should start anythwere from 2-9 days. I questioned after the fact..how long do I have to be on this medication? DH and I are TTC and maybe we have to hold off on those plans until my cycles get regualted. This makes me sad!!!!
Any ladies out there on Provera? Or were on Provera?

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
I used provera to bring on my period a few times. Take it from me ... if you think there is a problem but you don't like the answers you're getting, don't back down! I'd get a second opinion.
My OB told me about 2yrs ago that all teenage girls have messed up periods and it was no indicator that I would have a problem conceiving later on. Well. ... he was VERY wrong for me... I'm currently on my 2nd IVF cycle.
ETA: This was not written to make you worry, just giving an example of why it's worth it to get another opinion if you don't like the answers you're getting!!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
No offense taken. I feel fine. Just wondering what's going on with my period. It's been pretty much on track until last year. I am not unhappy with my doctor. And not yet am I desired for a second opinon.
Do you have PCOS? How come you are on IVF? Just curious!!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
Hi, i am going through something similar as you... i was put on provera after stopping BC because i did not get AF for months.. I took 10 mg for 10 days and bled after (very light) but the next month i did not get AF on my own and had to take it again... my blood work showed i most likely do not have PCOS, but my doc said to keep taking it for the next few months.. but i want answers as to why i cant O or get AF on my own so i just made an appt with a RE... good luck!!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
My blood work also showed that I didn't have PCOS but because of other symptoms - cysts, irregular cycles and anovulation the doctor is considering me to have PCOS.
I've said before, you know your body better than anyone. I knew something was up even though the doc said my blood work was fine so I pushed for more testing and I was right.

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
I agree with PennyCat. I also found out I had PCOS and the obgyn was going to put me on clomid without much monitoring. Im so glad I started researching and learned that an RE could help me way more than an obgyn could. The RE has discovered that my hormone levels are really off the charts.
Not to say that's your issue or that you need to see an RE right away, but no matter whether you "like" the doctor or not, if they're not willing to push forward for answers, its time to move on!
With my wonky hormones, I took provera and AF never really came until weeks later. So dont go by me
Good luck!

I originally "only" had PCOS, and that's why I moved on to an RE. I knew I had PCOS from when I was in HS.
I was told originally that PCOS is common and very treatable. Well, since then we just found a whole slue of issues.
I had a loss at 17wks after getting pregnant on my 3rd IUI cycle. Since then, I did 3 more IUIs, had a chemical, we found out I have clotting issues... I moved on to IVF mainly in hopes it would help us move on with our lives and it revealed there's a chance I was doing all those IUIs with empty follicles. Of the 35 follies retreived for IVF, 9 had eggs- which was surprising.
I did get pregnant with triplets that cycle, but due to complications from an identical split, and my clotting issues, I lost all of them.
We're on IVF #2 now and if my lining cooperates, we could go ahead and complete the cycle within the next few weeks and hopefully I will get and stay pregnant.
Honestly, at this point it feels like that really IS too much to ask!!
Sorry, I know that was a mouthful!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
Thank you! You all are so supportive!!! I have been off of BC for years!!!!! The last time I had a cycle was April! Then I had a cyst that ruptured. I took a test when I got home it was negative..so now I will start provera tonight. Weird part is I do feel crampy like AF is coming. I hope this settles my problem. I talked to DH about it when I got home and he said what ever needs to be done he'll go along with anything! I just have to be patient and know this will happen to be me! But I have to tell you it's getting very hard!!!
@Pennycat - I am so sorry you went through that . Thank You for telling me your story!!! Try to keep faith and hope in your life!! I am trying my hardest!!!!!!!!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
i've learned 2 things from reading lots of women's stories about TTC....
#1 - if you feel like something is wrong go for a 2nd opinion.
#2 - not everyone's symptoms is the same. You could be very textbook PCOS, Endo, etc or not have any of the typical symptoms but still have it.

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
I am hoping that this will work for me. Once my period comes and after it's run I am going to use the OPK to see if my body is ovualting. If I do not get a positive reading I know that something is wrong and I will either A. get a second opinon and B. See an Re. Most likely B. According to my labs and then the internal Sono I had there are no signs of PCOS. But if my body does not ovualte every month I know there is a problem. My job has been a little stressful lately and there are things going on in my life that have created allot of strain. I think the one stress is why I am not pregnant already! I've just got to relax and let things be I know that but It's very Hard. Talked to Dh about this more at dinner last night and he said "What ever you need for me to do, or go to the doctor or specialist." He's so good! New plan is every time he is off we are going to Something has gotta give sooner or later! Rather sooner than later!

Re: Cycles Issues!!!!!
I took provera as a teenager often to bring on my period...it always worked. Then I took it once and that is when I conceived my DD. I had the wackiest cycles coming off BCP - not so much wacky but each cycle just got longer and longer and longer to the point I was at 100 days with no AF and since I wanted to start TTC I took provera to kick start a new cycle. I didn't O then til cd53 but I got prego! Provera def. works - took me a full 2 weeks after 1st pill for AF to show...it was a bad AF with awful cramps but provera is fine - I'd take it again if I had to. I think I was psycho b!tch on it though...didn't bother me though just all around me
