Cupcakes for adults at a childs bday party?

I am having DD 5th bday party this weekend. I am getting a cupcake pull apart cake made and I will need 30 cupcakes just to cover the kids alone.

Should I be getting enough cupcakes to cover the adults too? I have no idea how many adults will be there but its safe to say I will have minimum of 25 adults but most likely more because I am sure some will be coming with their SO.

I cant imagine having to get 60 plus cupcakes besides the cost in itself (between the cake and extra cupcakes the price adds up) I am afraid to have tons left over. am I expected to have cupcakes for everyone at the party? Should I just get another type of dessert/cake for the adults. if so any suggestions

It is not at my home if this will change your answer and I will be offering food for the adults to eat.

Cupcakes for adults at a childs bday party?

Yes. Every party I've had I always make sure there are enough cake/cupcakes for everyone.

I think 60+ sounds like a lot... not everyone will take one. I'd still probably get like 50. It might be cheaper to request the extra cupcakes on the side and not as part of the pull apart cake.

this is what I will do. the cake I am getting will probably only need about 30 cupcakes but I think my biggest issue is the amount I cant imagine getting 60+ cupcakesChat Icon

I would make the extra cupcakes for the adults, homemade, at home so the price won't be as bad as buying them pre-made.

Chat Icon I bake on the side and you should SEE some of the amounts people come up with- 150 cupcakes and cake pops for a first birthday! Chat Icon I barely had that many people at my wedding!

I usually have extra cupcakes for parents, but I have noticed only a few eat them, so I always end up with left overs. What about a cake for the grown ups, another types of dessert, or cupcakes in a smaller size?

DH has band me from baking for my kids party. I did it twice and granted I did a lot of baking i ended up driving myself and him crazy Chat Icon Chat Icon (i bake everything from scratch i always end up having ton of other things i have to do besides baking to get ready for the party)

i should really reword my post because while the cost is a slight issue for me (simply because this party is costing enough money as is) i am just afraid of getting stuck with a ton extra. that's why i was thinking maybe i should just have some other type of dessert for the adults.

this is what i am leaning towards maybe only getting like 40 cupcakes and offering something else but the question is what? a cake? cookie tray? brownie tray ... i am not sure how a 5th bday party got so complicated Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My best friend does the cup cake pull away cakes and she does that for the kids and gets another dozen or so regular cupcakes for the adults

I would get a tray of cookies for the adults and call it a day. At parties that served cupcakes, we never had any for adults, if it was a sheet cake then adults were offered a slice because there was always left overs. Cookies are simple and someone can just grab a taste if they want it.

I would get some extra cupcakes for the adults from the grocery store. They're really cheap and more cost effective than making them yourself.

Or, you could get a cookie tray instead. That's super easy to serve.

I wouldn't bother. I've been to enough kid's birthday parties (if we're talking friend parties, family is obviously different) where no type of cake was offered to adults. I admit I get a bit bummed because I love cake Chat Icon but I realize that it's for the kids. As long as you have some food for the adults, I think it's fine.

I always have enough for adults too. I enjoy a cupcake or piece of cake at a birthday party. I would do the pull apart for the kids and just get a cheap BJ's cake for the adults.

We are doing 2 dozen cake pops and chocolate covered oreos. I.figured that would be enough for 60 guests with the pull apart cake.

I usually get a Costco cake for everyone-- feeds many , is yummy and is inexpensive (under 20 bucks and feeds at least 40-50 people). I always make/buy cupcakes for the kids-- and so the kids have the option of either.both and adults have cake and if there are any other leftover cupcakes.

This.

I have been to 2 parties of school friends of my daughters where they didnt offer dessert to the adults and to be honest, my friends and I were saying we couldnt believe we werent offered anything. We all thought it was extremely odd. My close friends we never do that at parties we always have enough for everyone even if its 60 people total. You dont have to order exactly 60 maybe 50. Not everyone is coming with their spouse, and not everyone will take a cupcake. When having a party you just have to accept you will have left overs. and its always better to have too much then not enough, its embarrassing and people do notice.

Just get the extra cupcakes on the side and not apart of the cake.

I wouldn't bother with cupcakes for the adults, just get a sheet cake that is big enough for the adults/kids and have the cupcakes for kids only. That's pretty much how I've seen it done at every bday party I go to.
