Crazy situation with co-worker
So my co-worker has a 6 mth old. She has had financial issues and I have provided clothes and non-monetary stuff to her. She also has very little support (no daddy for the baby, doesn't want to ask family for stuff)
I run into her in the cafeteria today and she tells me that she is worried that her son is losing weight. I immediately start asking 20 questions.
Ends up, she is feeding the baby 12 ounces of milk per day. PER DAY. She gives him cereal and food to fill his belly up so he is not as hungry. Am I nuts to be worried. She said she purchased 6 cans and it should last her for the next 4 mths (until she transitions him to whole milk at 10 mths).
Am I crazy to be upset? I told he rshe needs to give him the formula because he needs the vitamins and calories from milk. She looked at me with a blank stare. What do I do? I am worried about the baby.

I agree with PrincessP. I don't want to judge, but sounds like she could also benefit from some parenting education classes as well.

Re: Crazy situation with co-worker
Someone needs to tell her what she's doing is wrong, she needs to feed that baby more often!

This just makes me so sad. I would definitely recommend WIC to her.

Re: Crazy situation with co-worker
I suggest getting her information on food stamps if she qualifies. Help for the State/County. And explain to her that it's not an option to restrict the milk/formula. So sad!

Re: Crazy situation with co-worker
Thanks ladies. I called her up and told her our conversation in the cafeteria really bothered me. I told her how much my DS ate/drank at 6 mths and told her to give him more formula and restrict the food. At his age he needs the calories for development. She promised me she would. I just have to keep checking up on her.
And....she does not qualify for WIC/food stamps. She make too much money to r WIC but not enough to pay her bills.

Re: Crazy situation with co-worker
Can she talk to her ped? They have formula reps that give them free formula, maybe if she explains the situation he will hook her up!

Some peds are not getting samples any more. Something to do with the state. She should talk to the ped and see if the Inc will pay for it.
I had a friend that woiuld buy Wal-Mart brand it was a lot cheeper.
