Crashing..pre-baby list?

Sorry to crash, but I figured it would be better to ask mommies Chat Icon

Dh and I plan on TTC soon, and last night we were talking about things to do this summer before we start, which led to us joking around about a pre-baby bucket list of sorts.

Having kids, what would you include on a pre-baby bucket list? Is there anything you wish you would have done/done more of before getting pregnant/having kids?

Just a fun question Chat Icon

Agreed! Even though my almost 2 year olds sleep through the night, and have since they were about 6 months old....i have NEVER had an uninterrupted night sleep since they were born. haha. Because of the monitor I wake up to ever little move, roll, cough they make.

I am hoping I will get sleep again when they are in grade school. haha

Something else to add to the bucket list...Travel. Travel to places that aren't kid friendly.
Also spontaneous plans....just planning a last minute weekend away with no prior notice!

Travel travel and more travel
DH and I LOVED our vacations but we had kids so early into our marriage we haven't been able to get anywhere together in years.

Oh and just get up and go. Literally sit in your house and all random times of the day just get up and run out of the house. Cause that ain't happening ever again Chat Icon

Re: Crashing..pre-baby list?

Our last big trip before the baby was Vegas... Best decision ever. Had an awesome time... For my babymoon, we went on a cruise. Also best decision ever because I pigged out to the max LOL

I wish we had done Europe but maybe well save that for an adults trip in the future!

Oh yeah and don't think you have 9 months of being preggers to get in your last sleep... I got the shittiest sleep especially during my 3rd tri and I remember I kept saying how unfair it was... Last chance to sleep and I couldn't Chat Icon

Amen!

Oh ... and for me, its not just about sleeping through the night. I can deal with that - I've always gotten up to pee in the middle of the night even before kids.

What I miss most is being able to sleep as late as I want on the weekends!

Even if DH gets up with the kids when they wake up around 7:30am, I can never sleep past about 9am anymore.

I was such a good sleeper before kids. I often slept until 1pm on a lazy Sunday!!!!!!!!

Oh how I miss that. Chat Icon

Travel.
DH and I loooove to travel and we took LOTS of vacations while we dated and after we got married. We took a last hurrah trip to Italy before we started TTC. Don't get me wrong, we still travel with our children, but clearly it's a lot different now.

Enjoy your lazy weekend mornings sleeping in/lying around doing NOTHING.

Crashing..pre-baby list?

Travel. Even though we traveled a ton I'm going to miss it and there are some places I know we just aren't going to get to for a while now. I'm am grateful for all of the places we did see but I know vacations are going to be different now.

House projects. Day care is $$$ and I wish we would have finished our basement, redid the front of the house and refinished the driveway first.

Re: Crashing..pre-baby list?

I agree with what everyone said : TRAVEL.
We had a baby early in our marriage and I always tell DH that I wish we did another big road trip. (We drove from CA to Vegas when we were engaged and had the best time).
I tell him that it probably won't be as fun when were seniors to go driving across the country Chat Icon
So go as many places as you possibly can!

And enjoy your sleep, and the the ability to just get up and go out without having to worry about bottles and possible meltdowns in public!

So agree with all the previous posts. I also miss getting ready at my own pace and time...I rush around in the morning on their schedule trying to fit in a shower or have to do it at night when they go to bed.

Crashing..pre-baby list?

Travel, house projects, pay off debt, learn to cook quick/easy meals...and make sure your DH knows how to do things around the house (laundry, light cooking/cleaning) bc it really becomes a team effort.

Oh and train your pets!!!! Everyone I know that had a poorly trained pet and then baby ended up either getting rid of them, or becoming extremely annoyed with them. Both make me feel terrible for the pets.

Definitely agree with everyone about travelling.

And go to places that you can't easily bring kids to get it out of your system. DH and I went to Machu Picchu a few years back and it was phenom!

Crashing..pre-baby list?

Definitely travel! DH and I used to love taking spontaneous trips on 3-day weekends. We also had the opportunity to go to South Korea and China in 2011 and although we weren't sure if we could really afford it, I am SO GLAD we bit the bullet and did it. We also loved eating out and visiting breweries and wineries - hit them all now! While we have taken DD to 1 winery and 1 brewery, our days of brewery/winery hopping are over!

Crashing..pre-baby list?

So I'm even happier now that we've done our traveling lol!

We're planning on taking a last hurrah trip to the rockies this summer to hike/camp, bc I know that's something we wouldn't be doing with little ones.

We're also planning on finishing up going to the LI breweries, and we'll be spending time out east kayaking/at the wineries.

Beach is def. on my list for this summer, and I'll keep up my sleep-I think that's going to be my biggest issue, because I get 9-11 hours a night right now

Sleep in on the weekends.
Take naps in the afternoons.
Enjoy the sound of complete and utter SILENCE. Just silence. The sound of nothing. The absence of screaming and yelling and tantrums.
Have a conversation with DH uninterupted.
Use the bathroom alone
Take a shower alone

That is all.... Chat Icon

I was so worried that when DS was born I would never sleep again! It's not that bad. We go to sleep at the same time (around 9:30) and wake up around the same time (7AM). Works out PERFECTLY!!
