Crashing with a WWYD?
My mom picked up a good friend, his wife and their 3.5 year old son. Before entering the car, the mom tells my mother that her 3.5 DS does not have a car seat readily available. She would have to go all the way back to her house, make a big trip to get it. My mom said that she cannot allow the child in the car without a car seat. The next day, she receives an angry message from the 3 year old's dad saying his wife was furious that my mom would not let her child in the car. Says she felt criticized etc... What do you think my mom should do next? Call the people back , ignore it etc?

Crashing with a WWYD?
Well, this is no brainer, your mom is 1000000x's right in this situation. I would call back and say that she doesn't mean to offend anyone however, the law is the law. God forbid they were in an accident and something happened to that child, not to mention that since your mom is driving the car she would be in major trouble. If they don't get that then they are idiots and I wouldn't want to be friends with a person who would put their child in danger like that!

Crashing with a WWYD?
Okay, thanks for the comments. This exactly what I told my mom. I am absolutely disgusted by the fact that they got mad at her because she called them out on endangering their child. At this point, I hope she never speaks to them again. Who does something so reckless? The mom kept insisting that he doesn't need a car seat...

I agree with others, I would just use the law on her side. SHE could be held accountable for driving with a young child not properly restrained. It is awful to think the parent was so willing to put your mom and her son in that position.

I agree too. My sister and I are 20 years apart so she still uses a booster seat. There are times where my mom forgets to give me her seat. She always comes back to give it to me in case we go out. If she gets mad its at herself for forgetting.

Re: Crashing with a WWYD?
oh thats right b/c your mom should just strap a 3 yr old into the back seat with nothing. god forbid something should happen your mother would be liable.
that father & mother are douches for even being angry at this. Your mom absolutely did the right thing and refusing to have the child in the car.
Im flabbergasted that they are upset ..they are the ones that didnt have a seat ready for their own kid?? the mother should feel criticized..I wonder if she puts her 3 yr old in other peoples car with no seat.

WHAT..someone better send the cops to her door and inform her of the car seat laws. 3.5 absolutely requires a seat.

Re: Crashing with a WWYD?
I think it's ridiculous that the parents would try to turn this around on your mom.
She's completely in the right. They are asking her to (1) break the law (2) endanger their child. If they get pulled over, your mom is the one that's getting the fines & everything that comes along with that.

Re: Crashing with a WWYD?
The way I see it, god forbid she got to an accident and the baby got hurt or even killed. How would she live with that? She is absolutely right and only looking out for the welfare of the child. Good for her!!! the parents should should be ashamed of themselves for not caring about the safety of their child!!

This. I would call and say this, and after that, stay away.
I cant stand when people who are careless about their children make everyone else who DOES care feel like a crazy neurotic. Your poor mom. She doesn't deserve this kind of treatment for being INTELLIGENT and CAUTIOUS and CARING.

Crashing with a WWYD?
Your mom should send an equally nasty response to them asking how dare they ask her to endanger that child by transporting him/her without an appropriate restraint. And how dare they put her in such a position because of their carelessness? But seriously, who gives a crap if they were offended or not? Your mom did the right thing and held her ground. These people are disgusting for wanting your mother to ignore not only the laws but good old common sense.

That child would probably die in an accident.
Your mom was 1000000% correct and I would do the same.

Re: Crashing with a WWYD?
I think your mom did the right thing... As for them being angry, F them... Lol. That would be my reaction, but she could call and say listen, if I'm responsible for someone else's child, I'm going to make sure they have the proper restraints... Period end of story...
