Re: Countertops....
We just did a quick-fix on our kitchen. The original cabinets were good, just all discolored, so we painted them. We could only afford formica countertops and I used the company KellyFG recommended to me. Bill did a wonderful job. We even had him back to replace our kitchen subfloor. I am very happy with the quality and it will definitely last until we do a major overhaul in 5 years or so.
I don't have any before pics at home, but here is the after... Image Attachment(s):

Your kitchen looks great. I wish ours was capable of looking so nice without ripping the whole thing out but the previous owner had horrendously crappy stuff. We did finally redo it but I would have loved to be able to do a quick fix when we first purchased.

Re: Countertops....
When we moved in our kitchen had white formica countertops - they showed stains and marks easily. Now we have a granite countertop (busy pattern) and love it....I don't find it hard to clean as you can easily wipe it down and I love the glassy shine it has to it.

Thanks It looked pretty cappy before we started. In fact, the floor was so bad that we had to get a completely new subfloor and that ate up a good bit of our budget. We also had to wallpaper the walls instead of painting as the previous owner wallpapered directly onto the sheetrock and we couldn't remove it

Re: Countertops....
When we redid our kitchen we went with Grainte and I am happy with them. The only thing that I don't like is that their is a ring around the soap dispencer because it is always wet but we also have a lighter color, its called Madre Gold. It is an ivory base with flecks of golds, coppers and browns. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Countertops....
We had black granite done about five years ago and I actually don't like it anymore - I think they always look dirty!! (sticky spots or whatever, or they look dull if spills, etc are cleaned wiht just a sponge or paper towel - they only look nice when I use granite cleaner).
I would LOVE butcher block but I know we (um, DH) would make a mess of them with stains and they'd be sanded down to nothing!!

Do you have a warranty? If so, you should have them seal it again, if you have service on it they can most likely get the ring out
