Cost of IVF meds...
We will be self paying for IVF as our insurance stinks and doesnt cover anything...Could anyone give me a rough estimate on how much the total cost of your meds were/are during an IVF cycle? And is there a difference in how much you spend on meds if you need to do a frozen cycle ?...

My first 2 fresh cycles we self-paid it was over 10,000. The insurance company paid for the blood/sono but that was about it and they did not cover any injectable drugs so I paid out of pocket for that too. That was over 5,000. its cheaper med wise for a FET that I did too.
My new insurance company covers all of this. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Your meds may be covered. You should call your prescription plan and get a list of fertility meds that are covered by your insurance. Gonal-F, Menopaur are a couple of names. I'm sure others can help with that better than I. Also make sure you work with a fertility pharmacy like Shrafts because they can get through to your insurance co and know the rules.

Nothing was covered for me either, but I was lucky enough to get all my meds from the clinic that were donated back by girls who didn't need all of theirs. It probably would have cost upwards of $3k. Talk to your RE and see if they use donated meds and hopefully you'll be lucky enough to get some

You could also try the Internet Garage Sale-they have a section fo rfert meds. There was also a girl who poste don here that she had meds-you could do a search

That's what my RE office said too. The Pharmacy I have to use just called me this weekend with the list of meds that were called in for me. I have to call back tomorrow to see how much my plan covers.
IVF is the reason we did Flex Spending this year, this way we can use that to pay for many of our out of pocket expenses.
