What does it cost without insurance for the meds and retrievals?

What does it cost if insurance pays for meds but not retrieval?

My meds ran be around $2K. I was on on Gonal F and Lupron. Beware that med cost can vary greatly depending on your protocol but I think average is around $3-4K.

The IVF process for us was somewhere around $10K with ICSI. Somethings are actually billed under medical insurance such as your sonograms, anasthesia (sp?) and monitoring which helps out alot cost wise if your insurance doesn't cover everything. Your best bet is to call your insurance beforehand to see exactly what is covered....you may be surprised. Good Luck!

I got the NYS Grant thru NSUH which paid a portion of the IVF. We paid ( mds etc all included) along with getting the grant about $8K for our cycle.

Altogether ours was around $11,000 for everything before Insurance.

Had I had to buy all the meds, they alone were going to come out to 8K....I was on the highest protocol.

BUT.....

I got meds donated by lots of wonderful women, and bought some on www.freegaragesale.com for really low prices. So in the end I probably spent about 3K on meds.

My IVF was about 7K with ICSI, but that is including insurance coverage for some of the "basics" like u/s and office visits. The 7K was for the actual transfer and retrieval, and ICSI. I think even my anasthesia was covered.
