constipation and new to solids- need help
my 6 month old recently started solids and is very constipated. Thermometer doesn't work. We've been adding 1 ounce of pear juice in his bottles (4 ounces total).
The solids i've been sticking to pears and peaches.
But he's very constipated.
what else can i do? i'm afraid prunes will make him too gassy.
can i give a laxative?

I used 1/4 of a suppository a few times with my girls when we started solids. We mix a little prune juice into their cereal at breakfast and dinner. That has kept everything in check since

Prunes did the trick for my son. I've never heqrd if prunes causing gas. They help move everything along. I would definitely try that before medicating him.

Our Ped suggested prune juice, and it work for DS really well.

I mix 1oz of prune juice in DD's cereal everyday. It helps to keep things moving. It did give DD gas in the beginning but her digestive system adjusted pretty quickly. You just have to be consistent.

We are always in the same boat. Prunes didn't work for my DS. We added pears to his diet and so far so good. I posted last week that my DS's gas keeps him up at night now!!

YES! my son wakes up a few times letting out little cries during the night. I hate it!

My DD has had on-and-off constipation since starting solids (for over 4 months now). For cereal, I can only give her barley...no rice cereal or oatmeal.
I must give her pears EVERY DAY.
Peas mixed in with her dinner also gets things moving. I also give her prunes mixed with pear juice if she hasn't pooped for a couple of days...doesn't give her gas.
P.S.- Be careful with yogurt!! This is the one food that caused DD her worst constipation... who knew! It's a shame because she loves it too
