Dealing with constipation on solids...
...DS is almost 7 months, we started solids at 6 months and he is EBF. Within the last 1-2 weeks he has really got the hang of it and is eating more. I have dealt with constipation from the beginning of starting solids with him, so I quickly eliminated rice cereal and we haven't even done bananas yet. I switched from earthsbest to happy bellies in hopes the probiotics might help, but the only thing I have found to help is totally eliminate cereal (oatmeal) and give prunes at least once a day. I already prunes with cereal every time I give cereal, but he was still getting constipated. I am also giving him a sippy with water at every meal (he does get a bit out). So, sorry so long, but I am looking for any other ideas for feeding him. Since I am BFing I am sure he needs some cereal for the iron, but I don't know what else to do!

Re: Dealing with constipation on solids...
may I ask which probiots you are giving them?
when DS was around 6w, ped recommened biogai, to help his gassiness, within 2 weeks DS was perfect
around 3m he started getting diarhea, we added a little cereal to his bottles, it really helped, he was going 3x a day.
Our ped said, try florastor for diahrea, okay ... so we started it around the same time we introduced solids, 4m, its been a week, and DS hasn't gone in 2 days, and I'm thinking he has to be constipated, he's not cranky or anything though. He's FF.
We've gone from pooping 6x a day to once every 2 days in one month. Is that normal? Just a part of body dealing with solids?

We did the same with Tristan. Prunes worked the best for us - I usually gave it to him with plain yogurt because the cereal was binding. Even now at nearly a year, if he's had too many bananas it'll start up again. It's so horrible :(

Re: Dealing with constipation on solids...
DS was EBF'd until 14 months and in the beginning of solids he was very constipated. We removed the cereal (his multivitamin drops has iron) and he was fine, even with bananas. We kept prunes in a daily rotation. Once his body got used to the solids he went back on track with pooping once a day.
