Confused..

I went off BCP in November. My cycles have pretty much been around 31 days since going off the pill with one long cycle of 40 days. This my 3rd month TTC. This past month I used OPK and got a smiley on CD 20. We BD-ed CD 20 and 21. I had some cramping from DPO 8-10. I had tender breasts for those days also and a couple of days after that typical of AF coming. I tested DPO 10, 11, 15 and 16 which were all BFN. I am currently CD 35. My AF symptoms have gone away (breast are no longer tender). Do you always ovulate if you have gotten a smiley on OPK? Do you think I didn't ovulate at all or ovulated later than I think? I'm confused. This is really the first time I am paying so much attention to my cycles. I would just like AF to come so I can start my next cycle.

I dont know the answer but I also came off BCP in November. This is my 2nd cycle TTC. My cycles have been 32 days with the exception of one short one (26 days) This cycle and last cycle, I got a +OPK on CD20. This cycle we BD'ed everyday from CD9-CD22. If nothing happens this month, I am going to make an appt with my GYN. Im only 26 and I know it can take up to a year to conceive but I wont be able to put my mind at ease unless I know for sure nothing is wrong with me.

To answer your question you can get a positive OPK and still not ovulate. The only way you can confirm that you ovulated is by seeing an increase in your basal temperature. Are you temping? I would also suggest that a positive OPK can mean that you will ovulate 24-48 hours later, so if you get a positive OPK on CD20 I would recommend BDing on CD20, CD21, and CD22. Then wait and BD on CD24 to be safe.

I was trying to temp and then gave up. Next cycle I think I'm going to try and temp.
