confused
do u think it would be a dumb idea to buy an SUV now, with gas prices creeping up so high? i love the dodge nitro and am going to go next week and get it, im just having such anxiety over gas. am i worrying over nothing?

How much do you drive? How many miles is your commute to and from work?
I have a small SUV but I only work 7 miles from home so I fill up less than once per week......

I have an SUV and I probably get 225 miles on a full tank of gas (which costs me around $50). If you're okay with that, I see no problems...but if that seems a little extravagant, then definitely don't do it.

Nitro gets 24 MPG average.

I love the Nitro - I say go for it as long as you can afford the Gas for it.
Gas is not going to be going down for a while, and who knows what it is going to be in the future.
We have a small SUV with a V6 and the gas isnt that Bad.

the thing is, my bf and i are moving to Virginia Beach in August, so Im not sure about work and stuff, I'm sure it will not be bad commuting back and forth to work as far as miles go. we will be traveling back and forth from virginia and ny though because both of our families are here. i wasnt really worried until people kept saying to me "gas is going up to 4 dollars, ur crazy.."

Personally I would go for a car at the moment, especially since you will not have to deal with snow and such. I want a truck as well but might wait a bit until I can see how hybrid technology improves.

Why don't you opt for a crossover type car? The Ford Edge or the GMC Arcadia...they're supposted to be better on gas.

When I had my durango (before RJ was born) it would cost me close to $80 to fill the tank- every week- week and a half...
Really the only driving I was doing was to work and back and whatever errands I had to run on the weekends... (def. less driving then I do now!)
It had a V8 engine so Im sure that had something to do with it... BUT Im thinking the nitro wouldnt be that far off...

I have a average size SUV and it gets about 22 mph gallon highway
I drive about 30 miles each way to work and spend about $60 to $70 a week on gas
but considering my husbands car is a convertiable mustang- I feel like one of us need to have something good in the snow- his car can't be moved it a snow flake falls-
