Come in: Chevy Traverse or Ford Explorer owners
Our current lease is ready to end and we hate our car and really want something much bigger.
We have a BMW X3 and its WAY TOO SMALL
DH is thinking of the Traverse, the Explorer, (maybe even the Expedition, but not sure yet).
We are also trying to be smart on price.
Can you tell me what you like about either, what you dont like and if you dont mind sharing (you can even FM) approximate lease payments and what it included. I want to be well educated when going to the car dealerships.

I have an 06 explorer, the limited version. It was a family friends 3rd car and only had 16k miles on it! I love the V8 but I get about 15mpg. I love going on the beach with it. I love that the back third row folds down flat to make the cargo area much bigger. I like that its not too big. I can fit into spaces and change lanes nicely :) the only negative is I have car seats on the 2nd row so I can't even fold it down to get to the 3rd so my oldest sonwho sits in the way back just goes through the gate, but it works for me!

Not on your list but I love my Mazda CX9.
I went from a teeny Ford Focus to this because I wasn't ready to drive something with a "truck" base, and we needed a bigger family vehicle.

we have the 2011 Explorer and love it. it has 3rd row but we will not need to use that so we keep it down and thrunk space is huge. It drives great, comfortable and not too bad on gas. It is pricey though but not sure what it is compared to the traverse. DH has always preferred Ford over Chevy.

I just got the 2012 Explorer last week and i love it. I was picking between the GMC Acadia and the Explorer XLT. I choose the Explorer because of the My Ford Touch and a smoother ride, plus the price was less than the Acadia. I also felt that the Acadia, although very roomey, the interior felt cheap and unfinished in comparision to the explorer. I hadn't considered the Travese, because I preferred the front Grill on the GMC Acadia...but they are very similiar since they are both put out by GM and are built on the same car platform.

If you like the traverse, you might want to also look into the GMC acadia and the Buick Enclave. All 3 have the same drive train, all manufactured by GMC (kwim). we have the buick and I love how it drives. We also found that it had a lot of the bells and whistles included in the base price.

We have the 2011 Explorer and also love it, but I disagree about the gas, I feel like I'm always filling the damn thing and I barely go anywhere. It is kinda pricey, but it's got so much room, 3rd row seating if you want it, touch screen and voice controls. Other than the gas mileage we're really happy with it. It drives great.

i have an 05 explorer and LOVE it! it is a fantastic car. however, i have been in the newer models and feel it is more of a crossover between an suv and minivan (the front leg room is lacking and it sits lower).
the one downside to the car is the gas mileage...i get maybe 15/16 miles per gallon

me tooooooo! I went from a Suburban to a Traverse (needed something with the same or equivalent room but not as big of a truck) and I LOVE it.. I have no plans on changing my car and mind you, I had MB ML and BMW X5 (and BMW regular cars) before this one and the room doesn't compare..
I got mine at East Hills Chevrolet.. got a great deal on it too :)

i have the 11 explorer and have had it almost a year- bought in january - i am very happy with it- it drives smaller than it is - fits lots of stuff -can take 3 car seats across the front row
we have it very loaded but even the extras were much better priced then the foreign cars

I drive from oceanside to elmhurst in traffic stop and go 5 days a week and i get about 4-4.5 days on a tank. Not a ton of milage but its not non traffic pkwy driving

Thats great to know. We had the Lexus RX 350 first and then BMW X3 and the X3 is a lot smaller than the Lexus and the lexus wasnt even that big to begin with.
I am glad to ehar you live Traverse. My DH is leanong twds it. Can you FM your lease payment.(only if you feel comfortable)
