cold formula

a couple of times i gave my baby cold formula probably around 2 months and he did not seem to mind at all. this would be so much easier than warming it (sometimes when time is limited) but my mil saw me give it to him cold and she was horrified so I stopped doing it but then saw on here some others saying they give their baby cold. my mom said that when i was a baby (30 years ago) the dr said it was completely fine to give cold.
baby is now 3 months, what do you think?

Re: cold formula

There's nothing wrong with giving cold formula. As long as he's not complaining I say it's fine.

Re: cold formula

In a pinch I will give it to him cold but normally i just use room temp water. He was fine with the cold. I heard its easier on their stomach when its warm but if your little one doesn't mind then I wouldn't worry. You can always just run it under water for a minute so its not freezing

Re: cold formula

Cold water made my life SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier. Just carried it room temp in my bag for mixing. Took it out of the fridge in the middle of the night, etc. Life saver!

Mine too. But yes, my parents were beyond horrified and still bring it up from time to time.

Re: cold formula

dd took it cold. When possible I warmed it up but in a pinch, especially as she got older we went cold. It's also an easier transition to cold milk when they turn 1 yr. They are used to the cold.

Re: cold formula

I gave my son a cold bottle at a 3am feeding one night because he was SCREAMING for it. He was probably 2-3 months old. He sucked it down, had no problems, and I never heated another bottle after that. He was a little gassy at times, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I only use ready to feed, and it makes it much easier to give it to him cold. I warmed it until about 4 months, the started giving it to him right out of the firdge. He loves it cold...its almost ice cold, and he prefers it that way. I did the same for DS1

Re: cold formula

We don't warm the bottles either. My son is 9 weeks and doesn't mind.

Re: cold formula

I never warmed formula for DS. He drank it straight from the fridge. MIL freaked out but i did not stop on account of her. I also read (i believe on babycenter) that it is perfectly fine to give them cold formula and will actually make the transition to cold milk that much easier.

stick to what you feel is right for your baby! GL
