PERSONALLY, I think its a myth. DS will take it either way. the cold doesn't upset his belly any more then the warmed bottles. JMO

really?? I never looked into it, but I figured it could upset the baby's stomach. I know if you drink cold water or a cold drink your stomach has to work harder to warm it up, thats why room temp. is best ((especially when working out)). So I just assumed that was true.. learn something new everyday, good to know Chat Icon

I agree, I think its a myth. DS does fine whether its hot, warm or cold (ie fresh out of the fridge)

It's a myth. Ped said it was a myth. We tried it both ways and no difference so he got it cold most of the time. He never seemed to prefer one way or the other either.

I don't know but I will say that DD never seemed to have a problem with cold formula. We would make bottles ahead and feed them to her straight from the fridge. We hadn't heard this until later and out thinking was that we like milk cold so maybe formula was better cold.

In any case, she seemed fine.

This is an ongoing fight with me and my DH...He would rather take out the chill from the milk...I would rather just give it to her out of the fridge...

I say myth. I gave DS RTF. If the can was just opened, he got it at room temp. Otherwise, he drank it straight from the fridge. I never noticed a difference in how he reacted afterwards regardless of how cold it was.

Re: Is it a fact/myth about cold formula & babyfood ....

i have Baby411 written by a ped and he said it's just fine, it's a myth and usually just adult preference. We give ice cold bottles, DD seems to prefer it. And she has never had an isssue. We figure esp sicne it's getting warm out and she's starting to teeth, that she also may prefer it for these reasons.

Also What to Expect the first year said food did not need to be warmed, again it's usually adults who prefer warmed food.

myth. there is no medical reason to serve it warm, it is a matter of preference. Both my DC take it cold with no problems.

Cold Formula and Food always gave DS a stomach ache and now the same for DD. So fo us it is not a myth.

Myth, I read about this before DS was born. He never had warmed bottles, and had no problems that I'm aware of--I just rinsed them under warm water if they were in the fridge awhile to take the chill off a bit.

There is no medical reason to warm bottles.
