Cold Cuts

Have you eaten them?

At 25w4days I finally gave in and had a small deli sandwich with Ham, Turkey, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Oil & Vinegar, Salt & Pepper & Mayonaisse. (They did go very VERY light on the ham & turkey maybe 2 slices of each)

I've been craving it my whole pregnancy and it was absolutely DELICIOUS.

Who else has eaten something "forbidden"?

I did that the other day. I had a random craving for an italian sub. I ordered it toasted to make it "okay" but when I was eating it, it wasn't very hot. It made me think if I shouldn't eat it but....I finished it anyway It was too good and I was too hungry to stop

I just had 2 bologna sandwiches. I bought 1/2lb of bologna and 1/2lb of american yesterday and that's my lunch for the week!

I haven't stopped eating my usual. I usually have 1 deli sandwich/wk or 2 wks.

EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!

Jealous! I was craving a turkey sandwich the other day but I didn't get it. But I have had caesar dressing a couple of times

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've eaten cold cuts all the time. And no I don't warm them, because that just skeeves me.

I only buy Boars Head and I buy from a reputable deli. And yes, everything in moderation! And for me that means everything, including caffeine, tuna, fish, etc. The only thing I don't do ever is smoke or alcohol.

I ate some kosher salami in the first trimester. It was one of the few foods I could tolerate.

I've had them but I always have them heated up in a panini.

At first I was heating them up but now I just do not like it so I eat them cold. It is fine, I get it from a clean deli and have had no problem. I crave sandwiches all the time lol.

I microwave them until they are steaming if I'm going to eat them and then after that I toast the entire sandwhich in the oven, then I dress with mayo, veggies, etc.

I'm neurotic what can I say

I caved last week and ate 2 pieces of deli turkey. Still haven't touched the bologna but it's sooooo hard. And I am a huge lover of subway so not having my bmt kills me. Ugh. Think I'll cave on that one pretty soon too!

I have them often, I use my panini maker so I heat them up, I also go to quizno's where they heat up the sandwich too. I love cold cut sandwiches when I'm preggo, ate them with my DD1 and she's fine lol

I didnt in the first 12 weeks and then I ate coldcuts here or there and DS is perfect

THis is my 3rd pregancy and I have eaten them a bunch of times - esp on the beach this summer!

I feel like as long as it is freshly sliced from the deli and not sitting in my fridge for a week it is ok...and a better option!

I don't heat them up - bec like a PP says it grosses me out too! lol

2 weeks ago i broke down and got roast beef and cheese on a bagel. felt really (ok kinda) bad afterwards, but dang it was good!

I just did today. Ham and swiss with mustard on a roll. DELISH!!!!!

I asked my OB and he's said that as long as it's not an every day thing. IF I have cold cuts 1x a month its a lot.

I feel like all the "bad" things are bad only if they are in excess (with obvious exceptions of course - drugs, etc)

Not so much this pregnancy but my last one I ate Subway ALL the time. My sister used to work for a few Subways before she became a SAHM and she said that Babylon Village Subway is by far the cleanest and by the book with the keeping the meat and veggies rule. She said it's spotless there and they are super strict but a few of the Subways out east keep meat for WAAAY longer than you are suppose to and other nasty things that would make your skin crawl.

So I used to go to the Babylon Village Subway, not the West Bab one, totally different owners, and get the subs toasted.

yes, quite a few times in fact

I am 13weeks and have indulged in cold cuts about 4-5 times since I found out I was pregnant. I did heat the meat until steaming though...

My gf ate turkey every single day when she was pregnant with her son. He's 4 now and completely fine. I had turkey with my daughter often & I've been eating it during this pregnancy. My dr is not against it at all.

I eat cold cuts all the time- like at least once a week. You're more likely to hit lotto than get listeria. That said, there was someone on this board I remember who knew someone who lost a baby from listeria (not sure if it was from cold cuts though b/c you can get listeria from a lot of things- there was that cantaloupe outbreak just last month). So, on one hand you can say it's a one in a million type thing but on the other hand SOMEONE will be THAT one in a million, so...

oh, I just remembered that I also ate whitefish salad on a bagel. I didn't really think about it being smoked until it was done This was a few months ago but i did feel guilty and paranoid about that since I was still early first trimester

Had a bite of dh sandwich last week.
and about 5 hotdogs my entire pregnancy.
I have also had a little wine on occasion. Like twice a month and none in my first tri.
