Co-op Renovation
Quick question. MY MIL wants to renovate her kitchen and is in a Co-op. Do you usually need board approval for straight forward reno?

Yup, you need board approval for pretty much everything in a co-op

I know they want you to use liscensed people in case anything goes wrong. We didn't fully reno but did tile, counters, move electric and we didn't get approval, moving now, got the pre inspection to move and there was no issue.

When I owned my co-op, I never thought about it - just went ahead and did the kitchen renovation (complete renovation, down to the studs). Never had a problem (and my brother did most of the work - not a licensed contractor).

Re: Co-op Renovation
I know in mine you did NOT if it was just cosmetic. You only needed approval if you were making any structural changes or moving any lines to reconfigure appliance placement.
