Clutter / Junk mail

We have a shelf in our kitchen that is for the bills etc but it's always getting over-run with junk mail and other crap. It's making me insane I finally bought a bill organizer where you can put your bills in the slot on the day that it's due (there's 31 slots). I think on Oprah recently, Nate suggested getting a shredder and immediately shredding stuff u don't want as it comes in...

Anyone want to share tips? I 'm desperate!

I open mail everyday!!! I have a bill paying binder and things that need action go in the folder. I go through it twice a month. I also have an envelope for thiings that were paid but need filing. Anythiing that needs to get shredded sits on the shredder and junk mail goes in the recycling basket.

all junk mail gets tossed right away. bills and catalogs stacked in a pile. pay bills a few days after i receive and then file in the "paid" folders.

I think the best way is to go through it right away, otherwise it accumulates so fast!! I never used to go through it during the week, I'd wait until the weekend, and it took a lot more effort to deal w/ a pile rather than just a few pieces of mail at a time.

for catalogs I have a basket I throw them in until I have time to look through them.

I open mail everyday. I immediately throw out junk, I put bills in a basket until paid and paid things usually end up on top of our file cabinet until I'm feeling motivated and I file them.

I open mine every day too. Throw out junk, put magazines/catalogs their basket, put all bils in a special bill basket I have- in the bill basket I've got envelopes, stamps, address labels, checkbook, etc., anything I need to pay bills. It makes it so much easier.
