closing costs?
We put in a bid and it was approved. I am trying to figure out exactly how much we need, though I know that it is still a ballpark figure.
Can everyone / anyone just share how much your closing costs were??
TIA

Re: closing costs?
Someone on here said it costs 3-5% of the cost of ur house... I'm estimating when it's my time to buy b/w 15,000-20,000

Re: closing costs?
The best thing to do would be to ask your mortgage lender to give you an estimate of closing costs specific to the property, because some things are property specific like taxes

Re: closing costs?
My ATTy always says 6% of purchase price is the best round about...
(it has always been over the real amt, but at least it is a worst case scenario)

Re: closing costs?
for our house which was $206K mortgage and a total price of $225K with 8,300 taxes it will be $7K around for closing and then 5K for prepaids.

This was true for us. We had the sellers pay about half the closing costs.

Prepaids are taxes, homeowners insur for a full year plus escrowed funds for homeowners, and anything else that your bank requires up front.

Re: closing costs?
your bank should be sending you a good faith estimate.
our closing costs were someplace in the 12-13k neighborhood, I think.
you have to be prepared to pay any taxes, homeowners ins. for the year (we prepaid this to have the certificate at the closing table) and a bunch of other stuff.
our house was 295k.
