Citing your sources
Why is it that people feel that they can copy, paste and repost things off of the internet onto other parts of the internet?
It's still plagiarism, anyway you slice it. Why do people try to pass off words as their own when they are not? I know there is no teacher to scold or catch you but it still isn't right.

both! I know it's sooo easy to just copy and paste and be lazy about it but it is not right. If you are taking someone else's words, give credit where credit is due!

i think it depends on the the info being posted.
i want to read responses that remind me of a conversation, not a research paper.
i think more fault lies with the people who take whats posted as the gospel, and then run with it. imo.

I agree. The internet is one enormous resource. If you use anything and claim it as your own then that's not right. I have taken things to reiterate a point or help some one out and if anyone ever asks where I got my info i always say so. If I insert a web link that clears up any question too.
As long as you are not profiting from the reposting or whatever i think it's okay like on the celeb board.
Why do people have to ask though? I always(at least I try to always) post where I am getting the info whether it be dictionary.com, imdb.com, wikipedia or something of that nature from the start

This is an interesting topic because I took copyright law in school and at the time the internet was not as big as it is now. I wonder if it is considered public domain unless otherwise stated?
This is a class that is bundled into something that I will be starting soon and I am so excited to start it! Not just about words but music and movies too!

I understand that but it's not too much to say I just read on CNN that...
instead of oh I heard or read that blahblah blah and then I have to go searching for whatever it is.
Humn, maybe we can just chalk this up to my lazyness.

I took Music and Music business law and it is very different and interesting. Complicated too
those are subjects in my classes too!
