christening / baptism

What's your plan? How old would your LO be when you baptize him/her?

I am trying to figure out what's the best time to do this...

I'm due in 45 days and haven't started thing about it yet!

I should probably do it by 4 or 5 months so that I can have a little party in the backyard instead of spending more $ and doing it at a restaurant.

I haven't even joined my local parish since moving. Looks like I gotta get on top of things!

I think I'm going to do it sooner for the same reason, to have it before winter! Was thinking October, which would mean LO would be around 8 weeks or so.

We are talking about October so he will be about 4 months. I called the church that we think we want to use but they won't give us a date until 1-2 months before the date we want the Christening. They told us the dates are even open to discuss until than. I'm with you, I wanted to have it all planned but now I have to wait until August/Sept to plan and that means planning with a newborn.

I plan on doing it in the summer as well so I can use my backyard to avoid the costs of formal reception. I love doing DIY party decor and whatnot so Im excited. I havent decided the exact month yet but I guess the baby will be anywhere from 3-5 months.

Re: christening / baptism

I'm due in July and planning to do the baptism in September or early October, mainly so we can use our outdoor space as well as indoor.

Chat Icon Chat Icon are due in July and we will wait till Dec. when out of state family is in. We did this with DS 1, also a July baby, and his baptism fell on the giant blizzard of '10. We were living with my parents at the time and my MIL and two SIL had to stay in LI with my parents my brother and his girlfriend for three days. Chat Icon Chat Icon It was quite a packed house. We are hoping for no blizzard this time. The only good part of it was that it kept our numbers down and our restaurant bill was a lot less. Chat Icon I am trying to find a way to keep costs down this time. It is just so hard that time of the year. We can't host at home because of the lack of indoor space.

Re: christening / baptism

He/she will be 4 months. I'm due in Sept so unfortunately I think I have to wait until after the holidays for this. So sometime in Jan. I too still have to register with my local parish since we "recently" moved in.

Re: christening / baptism

Haven't thought about this one but I did it when my DD was 3 months. They will be born around the exact same time. I am thinking prob about 3 months also depending how I handle planning.

My DS will be just shy of 6 months when we do his christening. I held off doing it right after his birth because of it being winter, and I really didnt want to drag him out in a snowstorm if I didn't have to.

He'll be christened now April 28
