Choking on bottle
Dd is 10 months old and the past two nights she choked on her bottle - She chokes, I flip her and hit her back and formula comes our her nose
It doesn't happen any other time of day when she eats.
Has anyone else had this problem? I've changed bottle nipples and thought I held her at a higher angle tonight but maybe I need to keep her more upright?
Any insight would be great - it's super scary bc I can tell she can't catch her breath

Choking on bottle
Maybe milk coming out to fast, or possible you giving her milk after she eats food. She may be fulll & letting milk pool in her mouth instead of swollowing??
Was there enough time in between?

She had food an 1.5 hours before her bottle - which is the same routine we've had for months
She's using the same flow nipple all day but I purposely changed it to one we used this morning without any problem
It's bizarre
Now that I think about it, both times it happened at her last ounce or so - maybe she's just too tired and not swallowing
Hmmm ill have Dh give her the bedtime bottles this weekend and see what happens

I was going to say maybe she's falling asleep and doesn't swallow? Try giving a little less in the bottle. So take out an oz and see if she does it.
Or change your routine so she's getting all the ozs. Around that time we have to change dds. She got the bottle like 1/2 he before bedtime/ routine started.

My first inclination is she's falling asleep, the milk is dripping into her mouth and she's not swallowing it until she starts to choke. As long as it's not happening on all her bottles, I think it's fine. If it starts to happen when she's not falling asleep, you should talk to your ped.
