ChiefMT's IVF Journal: Update 1/23 TRANSFER done!!!
All of your journals have helped so much and I have so enjoyed sharing in your journeys. So, thought it was only right to do a journal myself.
A little background...
Prolactinoma discovered years ago. Went of BCP last September and period never returned. January started pills to lower prolactin levels. March levels were normal, but still no period. Ovaries are polycystic, but not PCOS (or so they say). Clomid 50mg and 100mg with no response. 1 follicle on 150 mg of Clomid - 3 IUIs - BFN. Gonal F + IUI next cycle - 5 follicles - BFN. Same protocol for next cycle, but estrogen dropped, cycle cancelled. Frustrated and had enough so here I am trying IVF!

Meds delivered! Huge box! Lots of medication and luckily insurance covered most so out of pocket expense was great. The estraderm patches weren't covered at all so I had to pay for those and may not have to use them.

Painful while it is happening but better right after. I have been spotting since which Dr. Brenner said is expected. Only 5 more days of the pill!

IVF Orientation - painless and informative!
S/W Dr. Brenner - One of my b/w (HTLV) came back indeterminant but was considered a negative by North Shore Infectious Disease. He is not concerned but I have to repeat the b/w. Trying not to get myself worked up about it.

Start day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take for 3 nights and return Sunday for b/w and sono
Social Worker appointment - if anyone read my post about this, I was very aggravated that I had to go. It was painless but I still think unneccessary - as far as time and money went. Our session was supposed to be an hour but after a half hour she said she had nothing else to ask us about. $150 for nothing really. I also learned that she accepts insurance for other kinds of therapy, but not infertility. I strongly feel that if this is a requirement of IVF then they need to find therapists that take insurance. Rant done! DH and I went to dinner after to celebrate passing the social worker inspection!

The sono tech didn't say much so I am not really sure what she saw. I just got a full flow period though which I don't really get since my lining needs to start thickening. They increased my meds and I go back on Tuesday.

And by the way, I am so gassy and always feel like I have to go to the bathroom. Ugh!

Have a bunch of follies from 9mm-11mm in my LOV, little smaller and less of them in my ROV - which is weird because my ROV is usually the better one. My lining is still thin and I actually just got a full bleed from the pill 2 days ago. I am kinda worried about that. Tomorrow I start my ganerelex and I know that means I am getting closer. I just want my lining to start to catch up to what's going on. My cycles are usually really long so I hope my uterus knows what to do in a hurry! Anyone have a similiar experience?

I have about 16-17 follies measuring between 11-15 mm and one that is 16.5. The PA said that my trigger should be Sunday or Monday and that everything is looking good. She also did my physical for teh ER - it is feeling real now. I also found out when speaking to my RE, that we may be doing a Day 5 transfer depending on the number and quality of the follicles. My HTLV b/w also came back and was negative - phew! I go back tomorrow for another look!

Follies are growing and almost ready! I go back tomorrow. Dr. K thought the trigger might even be tonight but my message said continue with my meds. Hoping that I trigger tomorrow... my ER would be Monday (which is perfect because I have off).

Lots and lots of follies of various sizes. Sharon measured 17 on the left and 17 on the right. Many of these were small though (8-9mm). Had a few larger ones and alot of mediums. She said it is hard to tell their true size because they are so squished together. I have some fluid on my ROV which she said will resolve itself but I have to stay hydrated and really take it easy. I am quite uncomfortable today!! Got the call to trigger tonight at 10:45pm. ER on Monday 9:15am. Due back tomorrow for b/w and instructions. I was crying when she called - I am glad it is here...

B/W and instructions
I am to arrive with DH at 8:15am with no make-up, no deodorant, no nail polish - pretty right? DH will produce while they prep me for the ER. I am feeling much better today and have little to no discomfort. I am just anxious for tomorrow. Reflecting on this cycle, it has been quite an amazing journey. Throughout my other cycles, I felt like I was just going through it alone, but with DH giving the injections, mixing the solutions, and coming with me to the appointments that he could make, I really feel as if we are in this together. It feels like we are trying to make a baby - of course not in the most natural way - but in a weird way it has felt more natural than previous cycles. This board has been my sanity through my entire infertility journey and I am forever grateful to all of you for listening, encouraging, and always having the answers I need! Will let you know how the ER goes...

ER was great! Way better than I could have anticipated. I was surprisingly calm. They put me about as soon as I was on the room so that helped not give me too much time to think - it was my first time having any anesthesia. I am feeling a little tired now, but otherwise good. They retrieved 20 follies (follies or eggs I am not sure). Dr. Brenner said that was excellent and we will most likely have a Day 5 transfer. Can't wait for the fertilization report tomorrow. Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers!!!!!!!

Fertilization report in... 11 out of 21 fertilized. I know this is agoo number but I am kinda disappointed given the number of eggs to start with. They will call tomorrow to let me know if I am a Day 3 or 5 transfer. I am praying for a Day 5!

After having an anxiety attack this morning and not sleeping at all last night, I got the call today that my transfer will be on Saturday - Day 5. I was so happy and relieved. I feel like I can stop obsessing for a while and it makes me feel good that my eggs seems to be of a good enough quality for a Day 5 transfer. Thanks everyone for your support!!

Transfer done! I had to wait a whole which was torture because the comfortably full bladder I had to have became uncomfortable really fast. The whole transfer was less than 10 minutes. I got to watch on the screen but really couldn't see what they were telling me to look at! Dr. Kenigsburg said they had 2 blastocytes to transfer and 9 others still growing and it will be determined whether or not they can be frozen. I guess they will call me and let me know? It is kinda weird because I had 11 embies and that would mean they are all still going which I just think cna't be right. Oh well, I am just happy about the 2 blastocytes I have! Now there's nothing left to do but wait.... Start my progersterone suppositories tomorrow and estrogen patches next week. Thanks for all your support!

According to my tentative calendar, I start Gonal-F on 1/11.
I'm doing an estrogen-priming protocol, and it all depends on when I get AF. I already did 3 back-to-back BCP packs and now I have to get one natural AF and then stim. I personally think it's going to be closer to 1/18. Happy to have a cycle buddy.
