Central air question

We just moved into our new house this weekend. We have central air but we've never had it before and we really don't know how to work it (we pressed a few buttons and got it on but we really don't know how to actually work it) and should we have some kind of service contract with someone? If so, who? We have a whole bunch of filters in our basement that we have no clue what to do with lol

Re: Central air question

If everything is working, you would just need to flip the thermostat to "cool", then set the temp.
You should at least check all the filters, if not change them. You can get filters for most sizes at HD, Lowes, Walmart, Sears, etc.
I hate having to buy new filters all the time, so I got reusable washable filters. When they look dirty, I just wash them out and put them back. I also have non-typical size returns, so it's not easy getting the paper filters for them.

Re: Central air question

If it doesn't come on, the switch on the unit outside might be off from winter.
