Central Air Question
This is my 2nd year of having central air. Other than taking the cover off the outside unit - what do I need to do? Any type of tune up or filter change? DO I need to call in a company? Thanks

Re: Central Air Question
I think you're supposed to have a tune-up each year. We had our CAC installed in 2004 and only had it tuned-up (check-up) once. My parents do it every year.

Re: Central Air Question
We've had it for 5 years now and we just make sure nothing is blocking the compressor outside and turn it on!

Re: Central Air Question
We have a service contract with a company; we call them to do a preventative maintenance check up on the system once a year. I think they do things like clean the filters or replace them, add more coolant as necessary, make sure it's working to full capacity.

Re: Central Air Question
I have had it since I can remember. My father pops off the cover, changes the filters on the furnance and makes sure the lines for condensation are clear.
Here is to hoping for a cool summer.
