Is this a good place to look for a babysitter/part time nanny?
If not where else do you look?
Thanks. We are losing our nanny/best friend/babysitter bc she is moving further upstate and I have no clue how to replace her.

I found our first sitter there. She was great until she left me with no notice. Then I found nothing but flakes there and ppl who don't even show for interviews.

I had a few decent people contact me when I was looking for a sitter but a few weird ones also. We ended up,using a family friend instead. Not sure where you are located but I am actually available to babysit for the summer in my home if it's something you are interested in. I have 2 small children of my own and sadly I lost my job of 14 years last week so I am home now.

Thanks. I m in westchester and don't need someone til the end of the summer. we were using a family friend and that's whose moving. Sorry you lost your job.

Yes. I used care.com and had a great experience.
Now that my babysitter is moving (been with us for 2 years), I will be looking there again (we will need someone in December).
2 years ago...Yes, there were a few weird people, but I found 2 stellar ones. I also had a coworker reference who ended up flaking out on us.

I got both of my sitters from care. com.
The first time around the sitter we chose was our first interview. I just knew she was the one within 2 minutes of meeting her.
The second time around the process was a little more frustrating. People not showing up...Nutty women....but we finally found someone we liked.

I had the exact same experience. We had mostly very young girls and I think that they just weren't ready for the full time commitment. We wound up turning to a daycare.
