Car seat question -safety

I have DD in a convertible and DS in the infant seat. DD is behind passenger and DS is in the middle. The seats are kind of squished though, so now the infant seat is slightly turned toward the left. Am I better off changing the positions or is the middle still the safest? The seats are still in tight, they aren't loose or anything?

Middle is not necessarily safest, you have to read your car's owner's manual. But if you're telling us that the seat is not seating flush with the backseat, and is twisted, then it's definitely not installed correctly. Move the infant seat behind the driver's side.

the car seat guy had me switch DD to the driver (she was older and i had to make the decision then to switch her forward facing she was almost 3) and i put DS on the passenger side.

he said that was the safest bet. i forgot all his reasoning but i know one of them was you didn't want the older child directly next to the younger one cause i guess they could give them food (though i was told the shouldn't be eating in the car ... and she eats in my car Chat Icon ) and you don't want the older child accidently hurting the younger child

If they are leaning against each other, it's not safe. The safest place is where you can get the best install and it sounds like the middle seat isn't installed well. I have a narrow middle seat so I plan on putting the infant seat on the driver side. I never had DD in the middle, even when by herself.
