Car Seat Chris is Back

DS is 3 months, but trying to plan ahead for a convertible seat. He is already on the taller/chunkier side. What seat would work well in a 2013 Chevy equinox?

I have a 4.5 year old who is about 39 in and almost 36 pounds. I am looking for a booster, 5 point harness to regular booster, for a 2002 civic and a 2010 civic. I already have a Britax frontier 85 for my 2008 odyssey. What do you recommend?

Hi Chris!

We have a 2 year old twins - DS1 is 26 1/2 lbs and 24 inches and DS2 is 28 lbs and 36 inches and . I drive a Nissan Rogue and have True Fit Convertibles in there, still rear facing with the head rest attached that is good RFing until 35 lbs, and will last us FFing until I think 65 lbs.

My husband drives a Honda Pilot and we need to get seats for his car.

I am leaning towards the Graco Argos or Nautilus since those seem highly recommended.

Two questions:

Will those be a good fit for his Honda Pilot? Is there a difference between the regular and Elite models of the Argos?

What seat would you recommend for my Nissan Rogue when the boys out grow the True Fit seats? Also the Argos/Nautilus?

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions!

The Honda Pilot is a very seat friendly car - wish I can say that about all vehicles. The elite comes with an additional pad and cushioning, not necessary, but it is a bit more padded. Not any safer though.

Let's wait for the boys to outgrow their seat. By that time they may be at the age to go to a booster.

Hope this has been helpful.

Most lines of seat will work well except - Safety First, Alpha Omega, MaxiCosi. Eddie Baur.

Depending on cost Britax Marathon or Boulevard, Graco Line, Evenflo line (except Symphony) should all work out well.

No - we do not consider the cup/food holder advisable. Especially for rear-facing children.

Hi Chris,

We have a 2006 Matrix and I was wondering if the Diono Radian RXT will fit in our car. Also where would be the safest place for it to be installed? We planning on using rear facing.

Radian is a great seat but more for a purpose of narrow conditions - The Matrix and the Radian are not a good match for a variety of reasons - consider the Britax Boulevard instead. If yo have more specific questions FM me.

What is the reason you do not recommend the Evenflo Symphony in certain cases?

Hi! I have a 2012 Sienna with the removable middle seat in the second row. When the seat is in place is it safe to put a car seat in that spot and have 3 car seats across? I have 9 month old twins rear facing and a forward facing 3 year old who I would like to move to the second row (its getting difficult climbing to the third row to buckle her in).

My answer to this is car specific - I like the Symphony, however in some cars it does not install well. Normally smaller cars.

Unfortunately, no. The car will not accommodate 3 across as the infant seats cannot be in contact with another seat.

I would use seat belt at this point - otherwise you will forget to change over.

Looking for a reasonably priced, SAFE convertible carseat for my DD who is 10 months old and about 20lbs. Need something that will be rear facing until she's 2 and then can be forward facing after. I have a Honda Odessey. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Car Seat Chris is Back

Sorry if this has been asked before but with the Graco Nautilus and using the seatbelt is it safe to use the latch system AND the seatbelt or is this unsafe and you are only supposed to secure the seat with the seatbelt?

Re: Car Seat Chris is Back

Hi Chris!

We have a 2010 Nissan Murano and currently have a 3yo DS who sits in a forward facing Britax Boulevard on the right side. DS is probably about 41" in height and 40-41 lbs.

We have a new little one coming in January who will be in a Graco Snugride in the center. We were planning on moving the Britax Boulevard into DH 2004 VW Jetta because he needs to be able to take DS to school. We were thinking of getting the Diono Radian for the Murano. I like the idea of it being a slimmer car seat and probably lasting him as he grows up. Any suggestions about this idea? Is another car seat a better option?

Thanks so much!
