Car Obsessed Husbands...

DH is at the Ford Dealership

this will be the 4th mustang in 3 years

I really can't take - he has ADD when it comes to cars

I am praying he picks a CHEAPER one

that was the PLAN

He should not be there alone

maybe I should fax his pic to all the dealers in the tri-state area and tell them not to sell him anything

Exactly! DH just spent $1000 on tires. TIRES!! Only the best for the mustang. But I should do my own manicures to save $$ Chat Icon

Re: Car Obsessed Husbands...

we have something called a torenu? cover

it goes over the convertable top and back seats

it has been used twice and we needed to get a larger apartment b/c it needed space to not get wrecked

the new one is suppose to be a hard top - I can not wait to get my 3rd bedroom back to use!

last year- my SUV became a storage unit for the exhust system that he took off a BRAND new car and replaced with something louder and Better?

I drove around for 3 months with no trunk and back seats until one day I sold it

I really can't take it

not to mention the fact that for the last 3 months he has driven MY car- which is a 2006 wirh 40,000 miles on it (leased) while his sits in the driveway collecting dust- less then 12,000 miles on it

and he complains about MY car- he calls it a space ship and the ride is too smooth

ok- vent over

Re: Car Obsessed Husbands...

DH races his car and competes nationally. I can't tell you how many times I've had to pick him up at the shop while the car gets this or that done to the exhaust or suspension or whatever so it'll be ready for a race.
I'm so sick of cars!!!! Chat Icon

This is totally my DH...his MUSTANG is his baby! I don't even know half the things he puts into it...he wants new gauges of a sudden...for WHAT? Who knows...if I ask, he will actually tell me for 1/2 hour why he needs them and how he can't live without them Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DH won't drive his car if it's raining, or snowing, or chance of rain, etc. There are times when he would drive me to work, just so he had a car for the day, because he wouldn't drive his. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

not all mustang are created equal

the base model is never at option

a GT is not for Jake

we are on our 3rd Saleen-

the second one that was totaled cost 3 times what a GT would cost

he is looking at a shelby cobra now

it's about the pirce of a 5 series fully loaded

I wish he would get a BMW or a Benz- at least I could drive it then- I can't drive the mustang- it's way to scary!

I wish he wanted a regular mustang- I would not be complaining

and once the car is bought- it will spend weeks getting after market work done to it

his ford cost more then my Benz

and that makes no sense to me

I know those "special editions" are INSANE! My DH loves them too but thank god they are not practical at ALL for where we live (upstate and very snowy). He traded his in when we moved and I still don't think he is over it!

I was told it's an extension of his personality and he can't even imagine a more practical car

in his mind the cobra will be more practical then the saleen

I would love for someone to explain that logic to me

I can't even go for a ride in the saleen- it's so loud I freak out- and I think I am going to die

I can totally relate. I always feel like DH is going sooo much faster than he actually is because of his loud a$$ exhaust. I can't even hear the music.

Oh, and you ever notice whenever another mustang is within a 2 miles radius, they downshift and rev the engine and start to drive even more crazy. And the mustangs don't have Oh Sh$t handles!! I'm like hanging on to the door! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am honestly say I have NEVER gone anywhere in the car other then to the shopping center and back

I really hate it that much

I would never get on the highway in it

and he tells me I am a bad driver!

DH has a 2006 Roush Racing Edition...and it's a stick shift, so I don't even know how to drive it Chat Icon

Come to think of it...if I knew how to drive a stick...I dont' think DH would allow me to drive it anyway...I'm lucky I can ride as a passenger. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I wouldn't even want to drive it- that is way too much responsiblity for me!

I can't drive stick anyway- but even if I could

he is at another dealership now- the last dealership didn't even know how to figure out what ours is worth

guess it's a slow day at the office- I could think of a few things I need him to do instead of this! Chat Icon

Re: Car Obsessed Husbands...

oh- BTW- about being a passenger

we have a 2006 also- and we got a recall letter about the passenger airbag not deploying in an accident

just as an FYI- another reason I am scared of that car-

Re: Car Obsessed Husbands...

I have put a moratorium on DH car habit. We have had 18 cars in 10 years. I think that's excessive. The only car in our future is the next car, which needs to last at least 5 - 10 years.

DH had his at the dealer the day after the letter arrived. He said he wanted to beat the crowd Chat Icon Chat Icon

He is on a first name basis with everyone at "his" dealership. We are probably moving back to LI (live in NJ now), and DH says that he will still bring his car to NJ to "his shop", as if they don't have ford dealers on LI Chat Icon

I thought I did

after the crash last year- I said I don't want to hear the word mustang for a year

(he had a perfectly nice pathfinder to drive)

with in a month- the pathfinder was traded in for the one we have now
