Can we talk about walkers?
I thought they were bad, I just yelled at my dad he bought one for DS, for when he visits them. They kidnap him from me one day a week.
So I go over there, to check up on them, DS is having the time of his life in that thing. I've never seen him so excited to play with anything by himself. He was racing around like a lunatic but he was really happy. He got so tired, passed out early for bed.

Re: Can we talk about walkers?
DS had one @ my parents', too. they also kidnapped him one day a week!
like most things, i think it's fine IN MODERATION, as long as there's a safe, flat surface for him to use it on. DS loved his, too!

Re: Can we talk about walkers?
we have one and DS used it maybe a few times a week for a 2 month span. As long as they're not in it all day long it's fine.

I had one with both girls. I think anything can be unsafe if you leave your child unattended and don't take the proper precautions while using it. Obviously, don't let them use it by ungated stairs and do not leave them alone, peroid.

I never had one, but as long as you're supervising the kid, they'll be fine.

ITA. The main issue with them was that parents were leaving their children unattended in them and they were falling down the stairs. As long as all stairs are blocked off and you watch them, they're fine.

That and my Mom swears that the kids can get closer to things that they otherwise wouldn't be able to get to or reach. I ate a poison plant because I got there with my walker and was able to reach them.
But, as long as they are supervised and there are no stairs I guess they wouldn't be so bad if they aren't used a lot. I also think they encourage toe walking or something like that.

My ped says that stairs are only one issue. He says no walkers b.c he has seen many supervised accidents. Grabbing things from places they might not be able to reach if they weren't in one, things falling on them if they bang into say a table or other furniture etc, are some of the several examples he used.
