Re: Can we discuss public places and smoking?

I would move. Tons of people did this while I was preggo. I would be standing there and they would light up right next to me as if I was the best place to stand next to. I probably would not say anything BUT I think it is absolutely RUDE!

I don't ask them to move but I will complain under my breath as I get all my stuff together and then as I walk away complain loudly about how inconsiderate people can be. I mean, I know people can smoke in public, but why do they have to come near kids on purpose?

DH gets annoyed with me when we are at the playground and I talk loudly to him about how inappropriate it is to smoke at a playground where there are lots of kids around. That drives me insane.

Sounds like the exact same thing I would do. ITA about the playground.
What drives me crazy is when we are at my DS karate class and the parents go outside to smoke but instead of walking to the parking lot they stand in FRONT of the door when the door is wide open. Im like "HELLO get a Clue".Chat Icon

Re: Can we discuss public places and smoking?

I move sometimes and other times I ask them to be more respectful. I did say something to the man smoking outside of the Ped's door a few weeks ago. I mean, it is a Ped's office, not a bar. The smoke was coming into the doorway area. I just looked at him and said, "The smoke is coming all over here and this is a Ped's office. Children do not need to be exposed to this" and he moved much further down. I have NO problems telling a smoker to move. They are literally posioning me and my child with their toxic addiction.

So funny last time I took my DS to the Ped's office one of the receptionist was right outside the office door smoking. I told her "that is not the best place to be smoking now it, all the children have to pass you and your smoke to see the Dr". I dont care if come across as nasty no need for my son to inhale her smoke!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
