can we discuss coffee?

do you need coffee to wake you up?

I never used to drink coffee but since becoming a mom, coffee is my new best friend! I only drink it in the mornings though as a pick me up. I actually need it to wake me up!

How about you?

Re: can we discuss coffee?

I really started drinking it every day when I became a mom as well.
I used to take it or leave it.
Now I feel more like i NEED it.
I can skip, but I prefer not to.
It's more of a habit than an addiction though.
Like part of my routine.

I don't think it wakes me up. In fact, DH and I have a cup of coffee before we go to bed a few times a week Chat Icon. But I do need my morning cup. I'm sure the caffeine helps a bit but it definitely doesn't have the effect on me like it does on others. I think that's because I've been drinking coffee forever. Seriously. Since I was a kid. Before you wonder what was wrong with my parents please note they were born in Colombia and this is quite common Chat Icon

I actually know a lot of people that used to drink coffee as kids as well. I never did. I just didn't like the taste. Now I actually NEED it to wake up!

I'm not sure if it does anything, but I do drink it daily. I always say how tired I am on the days I don't happen to have a cup. But to be honest I'm often tired even when I've had a cup (since becoming a mom lol)

No. Doesn't really do anything for me and I don't like it enough to drink it every day.

Re: can we discuss coffee?

Yep, I definitely need coffee to wake me up. I have (2) cups by 8:15 a.m. and I get in to work between 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Sometimes I'll have another cup in the afternoon, but that's rare.

I drink a cup a day (iced or hot). I drink it on my way to work (I work PT and go in around 11). It helps me get through the couple of hours.
I don't NEED it, but, I do like it and it is part of my routine.
I didn't start drinking it until I had kids.

can we discuss coffee?

Generally I have a cup on my way into work. Some days I will get a 3pm cup but no so much for the wake up as just to get out of the office for a few.

I definitely need it as soon as I wake up! I used to do one cup but the last few months that second cup seems to have become a necessity too. I have to cut myself off very early in the afternoon (3 at the very latest) bc I end up having a very hard time getting to sleep.

Re: can we discuss coffee?

Nope. I've probably had about 5 sips of it in my entire life. I keep trying to see if I end up liking it and nope..never happens.

I hate the taste of it. lol Believe me, there have been some mornings where I wish I did like coffee so I could have a pick me up. But, if I made it through grad school, and am making it while having a infant at home then I think I'll be ok.

But I also eat sugary things for breakfast so that's probably my pick me up lol. (I don't really crash from a sugar high).

Re: can we discuss coffee?

I dont need to wake up, i need to have it with breakfast about an hour later. I also usually have a cup in the afternoon and then sometimes at 7-9. It actually helps me sleep all night long. If i dont have it at night im up tausing and turning all night.

Re: can we discuss coffee?

No, I just like it.

I only work three days/week so I get it on my way into work.

The other four days that I'm home, maybe two out of the four days I'll make it.

I don't drink anything else with caffeine so I don't think I'm addicted to it.

it has the opposite effect for me- if I drink it late, I will be tossing and turning and can't sleep!

I like it. I don’t NEED it.. but I enjoy it. I don’t feel like it ‘wakes me up’ – but it definitely allows me to focus more.

I love coffee but I don't need it everyday nor drink it everyday. I drink it when the kids are really bad & need extra energy to deal.

can we discuss coffee?

I love coffee to relax. I can't drink it everyday it does horrible things to my tummy. It does not necessarily give me energy unless I'm dragging on the floor then I will just have a Dr. Pepper.

I drink mine light and sweet so its not really the caffeine I'm going for but taste.

I hate the way it affects my body systems really. I quit all drinks but tea and water before AJ was even a glimmer in my eye and then afterwards I realized how much better my IBS was and its nice to pee clear (sorry if its TMI) so I've stuck with it. If I drink a cup of coffee I 'feel' it and its enough to make me stop at half a cup.

Coffee to me is like drinking a milkshake or glass of wine. I don't NEED it but its nice every once in awhile.

PS: yes we also drank coffee as kids. I gave it to my brother when he was like 3. He still takes his coffee the same way now at 22! LOL All about moderation. I still love a nice cup of coffee and baked good like soft chocolate cake or cookie at night before bed.. soooo relaxing!

can we discuss coffee?

I've been drinking coffee since I was 14. I need it!! In college, I used to drink 7-8 cups a day easily. I've cut down drastically, but I still need it. I feel like a whole different person after my cup of coffee.

Re: can we discuss coffee?

I don't need it to wake up, but I do need it to stave off the caffeine withdrawal headache.
I like coffee, the taste, the ritual of making it. Tea too.
I can drink coffee before going to bed without any adverse affects.
I have been drinking coffee for about 35 years, since I am 12.

I'll have a single cup of coffee mid-morning 5 out of 7 days. I don't need it to wake up and in fact, I could drink a gallon right before bed and fall asleep five minutes later.
