Can I have some hugs please...
I don't know if it's hormones or uncertainty about what kind of Mom I'll be or just being plain overwhelmed by all of the things we go through at expectant mothers, but I'm having a really tough time getting a grip lately.
I'm sure I'm not the only one to experience this and I do realize there are people going through much worse things than this. I absolutely love being pregnant and can't wait to meet my little guy. Why does it seem like small things that shouldn't bother a person get magnified during pregnancy? Has anyone else experienced anything similar at times? Does this mean I'm going to go through post pardum depression?
I hate feeling so down. It feels like I'm going to be such a bad mom because I'm not happy all of the time when I should be.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
T- I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I too love being pregnant but there are days that the littliest thing will set me off. I got upset to tears the other day b/c DH went to the bank not when I asked him but a few hours later. Other days I worry if I'll be a good mom and at times I'm afraid...how will we know what to do? How will we be able to handle it. It's such a life changing event Theresa, I'm sure these feelings are normal.

Don't worry, it's just your hormones. It's natural to feel anxiety.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
Isn't it abnormal to just cry because someone looks at you the wrong way? I seriously feel like I'm losing my mind at times and being ridiculous.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
I get that way too, and it passes...it hormones.
I worry if I will get PPD b/c of the way I get now.
All in all, I think its 100% normal.
I have crazy thoughts...
Will be DH love me as much as the baby, will I get crazy on no sleep, will I NOT love the baby the way I expect to....
Feeling like your "losing it" is something we all get.
Talk it out...I think it will help.

Theresa, I cannot relate, but I would like to offer you and support. Do we need to go shopping? I am so thinking outlet shopping. Thats where it all began. Nothing like a Carters and Osh Kosh outlet to make you feel better!

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
You are going to be a great mom! We all have our ups and downs and I do think that a lot of it has to do with the hormones. In all fairness, this is all so new to all of us first time moms but know that in the end you will be great and that you have a support system here. 24/7 you can get your questions and concerns answered.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
Trust me i feel the same exact way. There are days when I am so happy with not a problem in the world. But there are days when i just want to break down and cry (and I do) and just want to throw something at people. Everyone makes me mad. Ughhhh tell me about it. I wonder if I will get PPD as well. I dont do well with stress at all and its driving DH crazy. The other day he tells me "this is some preganancy" Its all hormones girlie so dont worry it will pass.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
i go through it too. some days i'm fine and others i'm a worried wreck. do you have a good support system, people you can just bounce your thoughts off of, without feeling like they are going to judge you, like that you're crazy? i think it's really important to put your feelings out there and realize it's ok.
imo, it's a major misconception that pregnancy is 9 months of bliss. and because that misconception is always perpetuated, we fear that we have a problem and we have to preface everything with "i'm really happy to be pregnant" or "i know i'll love my baby." it's ok to be worried, scared, nervous, etc. but just talk those feelings out, before they become irrational and take over.

When I felt this way a friend told me, "You are already a good mom because you care enough to worry about it."

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
First off, I hope that you are feeling better today!
Second, I was just reading in "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" about depression during pregnancy. It's really common to feel sad and overwhelmed, and the feeling doesn't mean that you will have post-partum depression, too. When you think about it, the anxious, sad feeling seems totally natural as well; after all, you are going through major physical changes and you are about to embark on a huge new phase of your life!
Please try not to judge yourself harshly. Give yourself permission to feel confused or low once in a while. Sure, wonderful things are in the process of happening, but no one is grateful and glowing all the time. When I feel low -- which I definitely do sometimes -- I give myself permission to let go of the planning and the to-do lists for a while. I watch some bad television, cuddle with my dog, and so forth.
OK, sorry for the long post. I just sympathize with how you're feeling and want to say that you're not alone.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
Thank you all so much for your support. It helps so much to know I'm not losing my mind and it's all normal. It is so weird to know I'm not acting like myself lately but not having any control over it. My DH recommended also writing in a journal about all of the things feelings and thoughts going on. It helps me so much to know you ladies are all here. It means more than I can tell you so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll try not to be so hard on myself and try to find a way to laugh at the craziness instead.

Re: Can I have some hugs please...
I can totally relate! Although I'm overjoyed to be expecting my first daughter, I'm also a complete wreck on the inside! I don't have a full time job, and the job I thought I was going to get and work out the leave didn't work out. (I'm not sure what made me think they'd hire a pg girl anyway!) That's a pretty big thing.. but, in the grand scheme of the world, it's really not. The only thing that matters is this little one is healthy, a job will come eventually.
Someone even answered me w/ a "tone" the other day and I thought, "what did I do to her?? why is she mad at me?" totally started crying and couldn't stop... TOTAL WRECK!
