Buying a new home...where?
Would you recommend the town you live in if you love it?
Good school district?

he he...i live in LEVITTOWN PA. same developers and set up..just less $$ than LI.
we moved there from brooklyn..best thing we did.

I love Sayville! Love the small town feel and being close to the water. It doesn't hurt that most of my family is in town and some friends as well.
Oh and we have an excellent school district with so many opportunities for the kids.

We just bought a house in S. Setauket and are very happy that we're in the Three Village SD.
We lived in the Sachem district and a few of our nieces and nephews attend the schools there and they really like it. I've only heard good things about the schools in Sachem.

We are in Melville - great neighborhood, close to Huntington Village and short drive to south shore or north shore waters. Great school district - Half Hollow Hills.

East Northport, Northport School District. Love it!
I grew up here and after apartment renting for a few years farther east, we moved back.
I am in the Northport Schools, but, also very close to Elwood Schools & Commack Schools. Also good districts.

i grew up in seaford and ended up buying my house here (seaford schools), but also recommend the neighboring towns like wantagh, massapequa, both have good sd's.. and parts of north seaford and north massapequa which go to plainedge schools.

I love it here - so much to do - wineries, outlets, lots of festivals, great restaurants
Schools aren't one of the top districts but by no means a bad district either - I love it here!

We're also in Three Village and I love our neighborhood and area. I wouldn't recommend it for commuting to NYC (or most places west...347 really stinks w/ traffic), but I work locally and love it.

I just bought a house in St. James and I love my neighborhood. I have lived in Smithtown my whole life and would recommend anyone to buy a house here. So many nice neighborhoods. Good schools too!

Thanks for all the responses. Its great to hear different views.
I just sold my house in Smithtown and am currently renting while looking into other areas. Taxes are just too high here for us...and both me and DH grew up in KP and we are looking for a new adventure.
Would love to hear more opinions. We were actually looking into Babylon. Anybody from there?

I graduated from Plainedge HS in '93.  It was a good school and not too big which was nice. My graduating class was only 235.
