Bumpers
This may be a stupid question, but, are you supposed to remove the bumper from the crib before putting an infant in? I've heard about the mesh bumper and wondering if I need that, or can I use the one that came with my bedding or not use one at all.
TIA

Re: Bumpers
Some people say that it is better to not have the bumper in there, especially around 5-6 months when the baby starts moving around a lot. I've always had mine in but I do know of some people who've taken it out.
Onestepahead.com makes the mesh breathable bumper and they are a very reputable company, if you are nervous leaving the regular one in you might want to take a look at that one!

Re: Bumpers
I didn't have the bumpers in at first, but one night Marron started crying and I went in to find her leg caught between the crib rails. I put them in that night. I will probably take them out when she thinks she should use them to stand on to boost herself out of the crib!

Re: Bumpers
I left mine in until dd was around 3 months old and I was nervous about her rolling into the bumper and not moving away from it and suffocating. Then at 6 months I put them back on because her leg got caught.

Re: Bumpers
We've had it in from the beginning but she didn't actually go into her crib until 6 months. Right now I am more worried to take it out because she moves around so much in there.

Re: Bumpers
I still have mine in, ds is 7 months old. He was always a pretty restless sleeper and would roll around into the corners and smush his face against the bumper. He loves to have something against his face! Obviously I was very nervous, but he was always strong enough to pick his head up and move it. Now the contemplation is taking them out so that he doesn't use them as a stepping stool because he is standing in his crib.
