Thank you! I think about it a lot whether the equipment I use for DS are helping him or hurting him. It's good to hear from a PT's perspective.

I totally believe it. I really didn't use it for various reasons. Thanks for posting. Good to know.

From a therapeutic perspective, equipment does not help development (unless we're talking about reflex and an inclined seat). The best/ideal thing is floor time with toys to aid development and learning. Form a mom perspective, equipment keeps them safe from the dog, older siblings and themselves while I run to the bathroom, switch the laundry, start dinner etc.... Some equipment is better than others, the Bumbo and a walker are the worst for development. I alternate between the highchair with toys attached to it, Fisher Price infant to toddler rocker. the pack n play with toys and a jumperoo. I only use the jumperoo occasional and only for 10 minutes at a time.

I still love the Bumbo. Used it for all my kids and they sat up on time, and didn't have any problems. But like anything, I didn't have them in it during all waking hours. It was one piece of equipment, used in rotation with all the rest.
