building a house... Last update for a while!!
Hi everyone! I rarely post on here (on LIWeddings mostly) and to be honest, i just noticed the Home board.YAY! 
Well my FH and i bought land back in May i believe. We we're looking at houses for a while and it was a lost cause. We couldn't find anything under $700,000 that we'd even want to live in. It's nuts! 
Well here's what we've been busy doing lately. Let me tell you... building is not easy at all! so many problems!!!
Here's our trees...
To save money... my FH cut all of our trees down on the lot. Of course we had a bit of help here and there. But it was such hard work and took a long time.
Love his face! This is when he found out how much the mortgage payments were going to be!  Just kidding!

This is basically going to be the finished product, except we're putting on a porch & the color of the house will be gray with black shutters.

Thanks! We're very excited. The house we're building is actually a modular home and it arrives (it is built in a factory and brought in 4 big pieces and put together in one day) on sept 7th!!! 
The land/house is way out east...

it looks just like the house I grew up in- expect mine didn't have a porch on the front

Oh i hope so!!!  It's been a long process and the bank we're using is just a pain in the a*s!!! Nothing has been easy about it! Especially since it comes sept 7th and we're getting married october 7th. Crazy? absolutely!  But we didn't plan it this way... i swear!

East hampton is great! if you need furniture - try Rum Runner Home in town! I just bought my coffee table there and they have great stuff!

Yeah i've been there many many times! Great store and so is Homeport in Montauk... same kind of store.

Can you do me a favor, dh & I are going to put a house up in Greenport on a family owned plot of land.
We are flip flopping with doing a regular home or a modular.
Can you please let me know which modular company you are using/ builder and which bank you went through to get a constuction loan?
You can fm me if you feel more comfortable.
We are just starting this process and are trying to narrow down our options.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely keep the pictures coming. The house comes on september 7th so i'll have tons of pics of them putting it together!
Skygirl... the modular company i'm using is called Quality Crafted Homes/Primeline Modular Homes. They are located in Southampton and their office phone number is 631-726-9300. If you call, our builders name is Steve Graboski.
I will say that modulars are such great houses and they've come a long way. Now a days, you can't even tell that some of them are modulars. They really are built very well. The picture of the house i posted... we went to see the inside of that house (we know the people who own it). According to this couple, they are insulated extremely well, heated well, and they're quiet. If someone is on the top floor... you wouldn't even be able to hear them downstairs. Plus one major pro with modulars is that they take half the time to build and they typically cost less than stick built houses.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm an open book! Oh... we went through Chevy Chase bank for the construction loan.
