BTDT ... work related.
Im due Oct 8th. Ideally Id like to work through Sept then Im taking the last quarter off ...
Is this realistic? Did anyone else work up to a week before their due date? I commute to the city and its only about a 30 minute commute so not bad.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
i have enough sick time that if i wanted to, i could take leave a week before my due date but HR told me they'd count it toward my disability, so unfortunately i am working until the end!

BTDT ... work related.
I was planning on working till the end, but then I started to have contractions 5 weeks early. I ended up being put on modified bed rest, and delievered 3 weeks early. I had to keep in touch with HR, but they were understanding. This time around I am going to try to wrap up most of my work ahead of time, and probably take 1 week off before my due date.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I worked up until the end with DS1. Then up until a few days before with DS2. And planning on working up until a week before with this pregnancy.
It is totally possible. However, I do not commute to the city (I have a 30 minute drive instead which I think it much easier than having to walk anywhere). Plus I have the option of working from home here if I really need to. There are days when I'm just not feeling up to it (like today).

BTDT ... work related.
I planned on working up till my dd because I wanted the paid time after the baby and felt great, so there was no need for me to sit around my house waiting for baby to arrive. I worked till Thursday and my water broke on Sunday. I think if you feel up to it, it's better to work as long as you can. I didn't have much of a commute, so that didn't factor into my decision.

I was going to say the same thing!! My due date is on a Saturday; I told my job I would work up until that Friday. AND even possibly come in MOnday if the baby is not born. Want to maximize ALL the time I can at home with LO if possible.

BTDT ... work related.
I was able to work 2 days from home at the end which helped. The week that I had DS 2, I came in on a Tuesday, went full time from home the next day, and had him on Saturday. For DS 2, I started working from home 2 weeks before I had him - I could have still commuted but, it was December and snowing and I was huge so my mgr told me he preferred I worked at home until I had the baby).

My last day is a week before my due date. I also commute to the city. Its about 1hour door to door. With 5weeks left its not bothering me at all. I hope it stays that way.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I worked up until the day i went into labor. Actually i probably felt the best that day (my due date) and came skipping into work! That 'burst of energy' before labor rumor is true! I started feeling really uncomfortable at 35 weeks on and sometimes it was hard because i have a desk job and my back would kill me. I just took a lot of walks and breaks and it helped a lot. Luckily my boss had two young boys and totally understood. Even though i commute from westchester to the city it wasnt that bad as i always got a seat. The way i see it, you are uncomfortable regardless the last month so why not at least earn money being uncomfortable? the bed and couch became my worst enemy that month as i felt like i couldnt breathe when sitting/lying on both so i dont think i could have stayed home any way.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I'm due next Thurs and still working. My game plan as of this moment, is to work until I go into labor or my Dr induces me.
I have a dr appt tonight and I would be lying if I said I wasnt secretly hoping he is going to turn around and take me out of work. I know he wont b/c this has been a prefect pregnancy and he isn't really big on "babying" his patients. As of today, I feel well enough to come into work I'm just so tired all of the time. My commute is only 30 -40 mins via car so its not like I have anything to complain about in that respect. Also, I think I have a bit of "senioritis". I know I am this [] close to getting away from here for a few weeks and I just can't freaking wait.
So barring no issues....yes I think its totally "do able".

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I worked up until a week before my due date, then worked from home until i went into labor. My maternity leave started the day DD was born.
This time is a little different because my commute is driving 70 miles each way. I am currently working from home 1 day a week. In about 3 weeks (when i'm 33 weeks) i'm going to work from home a few more days. I was able to get a doctors note telling them to allow me to work from home. I didnt really need it because my company is very understanding about the distance i drive.
If you are physically able to, work as long as you can so you can save your leave for when your baby comes because that time flies!

BTDT ... work related.
I am a teacher, so my last day of work will be the last day before Christmas vacation starts, so I will be getting a week off before baby comes (hopefully) that doesn't count towards my leave.
If the timing was different, and depending on how I felt, I was planning on working until my due date to maximize time at home with LO

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I think it all depends on how you're feeling. With my second, I worked till the very last day..left work on Friday and Saturday I was in the hospital. With my last one, from the very beginning I said I wanted to take 1 or 2 weeks off to relax and dedicate some time to my toddler before the baby came. I also wanted to potty train her which I was successful in because I was home with her. This time around, I might just have to work to the very end. To answer your question, yes you can but it all depends on how you feel. I wouldn't force it if you feel you can't. I also work in the city and have to commute everyday.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I did (well, 8 days). I took off two weeks before my EDD and my daughter came a few days early. It wasn't fun, but my students and colleagues were great about it.
Keep in mind that you could go three weeks early or a week late... these little creatures show up when they damn well please lol.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I went into the office until one week before my due date. My (male) bosses were terrified that I was going to go into labor in the office, so then I worked from home until I went into labor.
I am planning on doing the same thing with #2, but I heard it can happen much quicker, so I may begin working from home earlier.

BTDT ... work related.
I worked at the office until about 3wks out from my scheduled c/s and I would have stayed at the office longer but I barely fit behind the steering wheel anymore so I finished it out from home.

BTDT ... work related.
I'm hoping to work up until my due date. I'm a little nervous because I have a long commute to NYC (it is a little over 1.5 hrs each way), so I really hope that I don't go into labor at work, but I want to make sure I have as much time at home with the baby as possible.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I'm planning on working until my due date. Unforetunately I am a nurse, it's a very physical job. You'd think a female dominated career you'd have some understanding from BTDT moms.... nope. I've already been spoken to about going on disability. I feel really good. i'm sorry I work nights and get tired during the shift but hey it happens to non pregnant people too.

Re: BTDT ... work related.
I had planned on working up until the week before my due date but DD decided she wanted to freak doctors out and come a week early, so I worked right up until the day the dr.'s decided they were going to induce me.
