With my first daughter I was induced at 41 weeks. I think for a week or two prior I had been a fingertip dilated...nothing major at all.

Checked in at 7:30pm...no epi...had baby by 2:30am. Apparently I was having mild contractions when I first got there (I didn't feel them at all), so that may have helped...I didn't need cervadil at all...they gave me Pitocin and I labored pretty quickly. Pushed for an hour before she was born.

Induced 3 times and delivered all 3 times with the help of an epi.

I don't think I would have made it through without the epi atleast 2 out of the 3 inductions. With all 3 I had back labor. They didn't give me the epi until I was 4 or 5 cm dilated. It did slow down my contractions slightly but as soon as they broke my water, all my babies were born within the next 30-45 minutes.

Also, my last induction was due to high bp. Initially i refused some of the pain meds, until my bp was getting higher. They convinced me that getting the pain meds would help to lower my bp and they actually did.

Water broke at 37.5wks and contractions were not strong enough to push labor along. I was induced and had a VD. Actually I was very lucky because DS came out in 1 push (no lie).

Good luck!!! I miss being in labor. Well all the excitement that comes along with it.

ETA: I also had an epi
