BTDT moms of successful CIO

How long (hours? minutes?) did your baby cry for before they fell asleep? And how many days did it take before they started STTN?

first night we did 5/10/15 minutes. he went to sleep after the 15 minute interval. second and third night didnt get past 10 minutes. 4th night no problems.

DS was waking up 4x a night when we started sleep training.

Night 1 - 60 minutes
Night 2 - 45-35 minutes (cant remember)
Night 3 - He didn't wake up at all!

* On nights 1 & 2, he only woke up once

Night 1 20+ we went in
Night 2 5 min
Night 3 half hour
Night 4 No crying at all

He's been sleeping through the night since. It was hard. But we got through it and it's so much better now. He goes down awake and is asleep for the night within a few minutes of me walking out the room.

Night 1 - 1hr 15 minutes
Night 2 - 25 minutes
Night 3 - 5 minutes


Night 1 - 45 minutes
Night 2 - 5 minutes

I know we FM'd earlier but I'll respond anyway!

Night 1: 45 minutes (followed by two more wake-ups with 10-15 mins of crying each)
Night 2: 10 minutes
Night 3: About 5 minutes

STTN by night 4.

IMO it depends on what other sleep training you do. If your baby is content to play a lone in the crib? Do they get fresh air every day, especially before naps and bedtime? Do they get plenty of excercise and safe exploration for phsycial and mental exhaustion?

CIO for us was easier than exepcted.
night 1: 15min
night 2: 10 min
night 3: 1-3? min

we have to redo it every now and again, never ever takes more than 5 min.

We just recently did this starting last week. He'll walk to his room but then cries when Ipick him up to put him in his crib. I say good night it's sleepy time I love you and then give him his paci. I say it again after that then I turn off the lights and close the door and walk out.

1st night - he fell asleep after 15 min..cried 10 min. sat and looked around for 5 and then fell asleep

2nd night - Cried 5 min then laid down and fell asleep

3rd night - Cried 3 min then fell asleep

Last night - Cried only when I put him in the crib andwent to sleep shortly after I walked out

It kills me that he cries when I put him in but he sleeps really well through the night and the time has decreased each time.

First night was little over an hour (Felt like days!!!)

2nd night was about 20 min's

3rd and 4th night was only a few min's and he just rolled over and went to sleep.

Since then, not a peep!

We did full CIO with Naps and Nighttime sleep, did not go in after a certain time, etc.. We know he knew how to self sooth because he has done it in the past.

We got lucky...

1 - 10 mins
2 - didnt cry
3 - 2 mins

been sleeping through the night since and never cries when i put him down. every now and then he'll cry out for a second or 2 but goes right back to sleep.

Never more than 20 minutes but at the time it felt like hours. Use a timer or a stopwatch, my perception of time was so off. Good Luck!

13 minutes on night one and that's it, but DD's always been a champion sleeper and just got off-track b/c of some bad habits we developed as a result of her reflux. sometimes we have to redo it even now and it's under 5 minutes each time.

OK.. I didn't follow any books or rules.. DS was well fed, changed, burped and happy... so I knew nothing was wrong with him.. I just let him cry and the first night it was 30 minutes and he felll asleep and then next night it took him 15 and by the third night he was going down awake and content and fell right asleep... fast forward a few months he had some teething issues and we went on vacation.. after that was all done we had to do it all over again and the first night was an hour and the second night 30 minutes and again by the third night he was going in awake and fell right asleep..
