BTDT moms that breastfed or pumped
after 11.5 months of pumping, I stopped last Saturday  For the last 2-3 weeks, I was only pumping 1X per day (about 3-4 oz total) and I was not emptying my breasts so I figured I would be able to stop and not have any problems since I had been slowly weaning. Well, it's now day 8 and my breasts are full and they hurt a little and it feels like there might be a clog in one of them  What do I do? It's been 8 days already. How long does it take for milk to dry up?

a friend of mine felt uncomfortable engorgement around 8-9 days after weaning. She said it lasted 2-3 days. I think it could take weeks or months before you're fully dried up....

 that is not what I wanted to hear....ugh. I was so happy to finally be finished, that I did not even think of any of this.

The engorgement shouldn't last more than a couple of days. But, unfortunately, for some, it can take several years (!) for the milk to completely dry up! One of my friends stopped BFing almost 10 months ago and, still, if she squeezes her breast, she can shoot milk across a room!

I EBFd for 14 months. I actually never had engorgement issues and I think that is because I weaned very slowly.
But, I had milk for a while. Months. And during AF if I squeezed my nipple I could get milk out sometimes  (sorry TMI!)

I would squeeze a little out to ease the pain and not get an infection.

I just stopped pumping and I put ice packs in my bra. Also becareful of warm water in the shower.

I've heard that cabbage leaves help. Also try wearing a sports bra or something binding. I weaned very, very slowly so when I finally stopped with DS 1 I had no pain. I hope you feel better.

I stopped over a month ago and am dried up for the most part. If I squeeze, a little milk still comes out but definitely not as much as it used to. I also weaned really slowly to avoid engorgement issues.

i thought i wass slowly weaning - and only feeding once a day and it took me a solid two weeks or slightly more to stop - and at about 9 days it got worse - i had to releave some imilk in the shower

today is day 9 and I just started leaking! My left breast is engorged and there's a clog. I guess I have no choice but to relieve it a little.
