BTDT moms that Breastfed

I have a question regarding Nursing bras.
When did you know what size to buy being you get larger after birth? What brand do you feel is most comfortable and most supportive? Which style sports bra type, regular bra type?

Im going to xpost on parenting as well. Any suggestions and opinions will be much appreciated.

I used a lot of nursing tanks and the sleep nursing bras that are all cotton. Just bought a large size as I had a large chest to begin with.

Re: BTDT moms that Breastfed

I have a hard time with nursing bras because I'm very large on top (right now I'm between a 36DDD and a 38DD, depending on the bra.

I go to a special store like Georgette's to get measured. The last time I got one late in my 3rd tri. After 2 months PP it was too small in the cup and too large in the band.

I would recommend just wearing a stretchy non-underwire bra at first, like the ones by Medela, and then once you're no longer engorged, get properly fitted for a nursing bra.

This time around I ordered 3 different sizes of the same Bravado nursing tank from breakoutbras.com, and since they have a 120day return policy Chat Icon I'm going to exchange the ones that don't fit after I know what size I am.

I think I stayed the same size that I was when pregnant. Normally I am a 36C. Pregnant and nursing I am 36D.

I LOVE the Elle MacPherson (spelling) bras. I think they are on sale at Nordstrom.com. So comfy and they look halfway decent.

This is what I did as well. I don't have a large chest though but they got huge (well for me) when my milk came in. Normally I am a small or xsmall so bought medium. These are the ones I wore in the house mostly.
For regular nursing bras to wear out, I went to motherhood where they measured me and told me what size I should buy. I went around 36 weeks (I think) and I think they suggested a size or two larger than what I was at the moment. They did fit when my milk came in, but I actually didn't like the style afterwards because they were nylon on the inside. I didn't realize that material would not be pleasing to my nips.

I loved the ones from BRU. They were soft, and easy to use.

I didn't buy them until a few days after DS was born. But I did make sure to have a few nursing tanks already.

I am still nursing my first child- in the process of weaning him. I had a few nursing bras and didn't like any of them. I just bought bras in a larger size and picked it up over my breast when it came time to nurse.

I was told with my DS to buy nursing bras when I was around 38-39 weeks. So I did that and then the day I was leaving the hospitals, my boobs had gotten even bigger so a lactation consultant came in to inspect the bras I bought to make sure they fit properly.Well she said they were to small so i had to purchase a new bra through them (she measured me right there and had them in stock). I got a medela one and it was fine (a lot of $$ though), then based on the size I was when she measured me, I sent my step mom out to buy a couple more. Also they recc no underwireChat Icon
