BTDT question for moms who breastfed
My DD is 10 months old and I have been breastfeeding/pumping exclusively since her birth. There has been a serious decline in my milk production. I've increased my pumping but it doesn't seem to have done anything for my production.
So I have 2 questions: Do you think I can still get my supply up? (I know I'll have to ask my ped about question #2 also.) Do you think 10-11 months is too soon to start milk as a supplement to breast milk? I don't really want to start formula to have to switch again. This whole thing really makes me sad!

You can increase your supply by increasing the pumping, drinking fennel tea, fenugeek (sp?).
I think 10 months is too young for milk to supplement bm. I would think your pediatrican would advise formula over cow's milk.

I think I was producing less around that time b/c DD was drinking less and eating more solids...maybe that's what's happeing? I switched to milk just before 11 months...

I BF Julia for 11months (stopped cause she got an ear infection and didn't want to BF anymore), and my doctor told me to start her on whole milk then, that I didn't have to wait till a year, I mean she was 11 months so it wasn't a problem. If your milk production is low, I would just wean her now to regular milk. JMO.

Re: BTDT question for moms who breastfed
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I am going to ask the ped about it on Tuesday. I just feel like she isn't getting enough and I am limiting her milk consumption. She only gets 12-15 oz a day. When I can only give her 12, it really upsets me!
It definitely has some to do with her not taking as much milk and eating more solid food. She also doesn't want to BF anymore so now I just pump...I think that could have also changed my production.

me too! I had a bunch of frozen milk so I continued to feed her that, and started to wean myself at 11 months, but I noticed a decline before that.
I still think the best thing is to pump first thing in the morning, before you feed DC. I would get 10oz every morning.
