Britney to Pay K-Fed $20,000 in Child Support
Britney Spears's custody settlement with her ex Kevin Federline came at a price.
A source close to the singer confirms she'll now pay Federline $20,000 a month in child support, an increase from $15,000.
Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, also demanded and received $250,000 for his work on the case, the source adds.
"All Britney was seeking was a formalization of her increased visitation that she's obtained over recent weeks, and the additional overnight," the source said. "She won both of those requests."
Spears, who is represented by lawyer Laura Wasser, currently sees her sons twice a week with one overnight. The source adds that she will get an additional overnight by year's end, barring any setbacks.
At a press conference following Friday's hearing, Kaplan declined to address any monetary settlement. "This has been a long ordeal [for Kevin]," Kaplan said, "and for it to be over makes him very happy."

Granted she has the money, I dont understand what children could possibly need for $20k a month...that is ridiculous to me. Put the money in savings for college or their future instead of buying them crap.

So she didn't fight for them?  Will she? Granted, I know she needs to get HER life together before she can really get them, but I feel like there is more to the story, you know?

So she didn't fight for them? Will she? Granted, I know she needs to get HER life together before she can really get them, but I feel like there is more to the story, you know?
I was a little disappointed she didn't fight for them too. But then I thought about it. She's finally away from Sam and starting to get her life in order. If she had fought, it would have been a long drawn out and expensive trial that she probably would have lost. She is prob best off leaving things the way they are, continuing to clean up her act, and down the road try for shared custody...when she's in an even better place than she is now. She still has a lot of work to do for herself, especially when Daddy's conservatorship ends on July 31st (if they don't extend it).

I have a different take on it. I saw it like she knows she's too screwed up to have them right now and loves them enough to recognize he's more stable.
I can't imagine not doing everything in my power to get my act together for my kids. But she seems more in control now than before & I think is doing the right thing for their sake.
They can readdress custody down the line.

but she's stable enough to shop and party, go driving around, fly across country to be with her sister during labor, etc. most people who have the $ hire help. but give up your own kids??

It doesn't take much stabiilty to go out and party and drive around town shopping.
She probably knew that she's not at a point mentally where she can raise them right.
Who knows. It doesn't matter if she fought for them - what matters is that they come out of this being raised well.

I understand and I agree with this but come on...is formula, food, and clothing THAT musch more expensive if your a celeb? The money is to support the children ie: food, clothing, housing, transportation, medical; bills, and childcare....You can't tell me for 2 kids under 2 1/2 that they need $240,000 a year to "get by". It's just silly.

Honestly, I think if she knows she cannot be a FT mother then it's better to admit it and not have custody of kids she cannot handle by herself.
We are not used to moms not wanting FT custody but all moms do not want this huge responsibility.
It goes against our preconception of what a mom should be but don't you think it's better to admit you are in essence not the best caregiver for them and let your kids be with someone who wants them (for a financial reason I am sure!!!!).
Yes, I think K fed wants the kids for the $$$$ . He has no income, no job. He needs Britney's money to "survive".
I think it actually works for both of them. She wants her kids when she has the time for them, she pays the dad to do it and he needs the money.
The $250K for the attorney... is a bit far fetched! Britney is such a sucker. Everybody wants her money.
