bringing in gifts for nurses

Upon being discharged from the hospital, some of my friends have given trays of cookies, Dunkin Donuts, etc to the nurses on the maternity floor...do you ladies plan on doing something like that? If so, what do you plan on giving them? Also, would you plan on having DH bring the goodies on the day you're being discharged, or while you're still there as a patient?

I think I will probably ask DH to bring a little treat in while I am still there. Prob just a tray of cookies from the bakery or something.

I'm going to have DH bring in cookies and brownies from BJs (they're soooo good!!!) and a box-o-joe from Dunkin' on the day before I'm discharged. (I just found out with a c-section you're in for a total of 5 days!)

I have never thought of that...what a good idea.

I'd probably ask him to bring in some bakery cookies.

Re: bringing in gifts for nurses

I forgot to mention - I'm a nurse and it is ALWAYS really appreciated when a patient/family brings in some goodies for us! But also just as important -- include a card/note thanking your nurses!!! Yes, we are just doing our job, but most of us LOVE what we do and when a patient/family realizes how we frequently go above and beyond and gives us that recognition --- that's what makes it all worth while! I make photocopies of all the nice letters/cards my patients have brought in and they are in my professional portfolio.

As a Physician Assistant, I KNOW how appreciated these types of goodies are. Plus, they'll remember who the treats are fromChat Icon
I plan on having DH bring something a day or 2 before I'm discharged. I did it when my grandpa was in the hospital and same with my MIL.

With DC#1, DH brought in Dunkin Donuts.

With this baby, I think I am going to have him bring in some bagels on morning or maybe order some pizza for lunch for them while I am still a patient there.

I had DH pick up cookies from the bakery for my labor and delivery nurse. She actually came to visit me the next day and tell me what a great job I did. I did not take lamaze and she was an excellent coach.

Re: bringing in gifts for nurses

I haven't decided what yet, but my Ante Partum nurses (day AND night shift) are getting something. They have helped this last month fly by and been so nice. If it weren't for the staff I may have gone mad being stuck here!

I am a big fan of edible arrangements, either that or pastries from my favorite bakery...
