MINNEAPOLIS - A freeway bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed Wednesday, sending many cars into the water.
ADVERTISEMENT
Tons of concrete have collapsed and people are injured. Survivors are being carried up the riverbank.
The entire span of the 35W bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m. where the freeway crosses the river near University Avenue.
Some people are stranded on parts of the bridge that aren't completely in the water.
A tractor-trailer is on fire at the collapse scene.

not to strike panic, but how does a bridge just collapse like that. Why is it that I think this is some terrorist test Am I just paranoid.

Just heard. SOOOO scary. Literally my biggest fear. Whenever we drive over bridges,i ALWAYS open my window all the way so if we fall in, i can swim out. (yes i do it in the dead of winter too)

Yes they inspect bridges. Who knows if it is done properly.
They don't know how it happened yet, but they were doing renovation on the bridge which included using a jack hammer. Who knows at this point?

not everything is terrorism....
was the steampipe explosion terroism?
the truck on fire was probally cause it hit the the broken part of the bridge. section truck is on appears to be down and the part in front is up. the truck ran into it.
i hope and pray for those that cars got thrown into the water are safe

They have confirmed at least 3 dead so far
I pray for miracles!
In watchnig the news more, it seems its due to whatever work was being done on the bridge.

I have one of those safety hammers that have a part to cut through the seatbelt and the other part can break the car window. I am such a freak about it.

Homeland security said they cannot confirm it was terrorism.
none of the witnesses heard a bomb, which cannot be missed. they all just heard a rumbling.

I am not usually paranoid, but see to me that statement says they can not confirm that it wasnt terrorism
