Bridesmaid questions

I'm a bridesmaid. We'll be wearing Bill levkoff dresses. The person said extra length is recommended if you're 5'7 or over. I'm just 5'7 - is it worth the extra $20.

Also - what's the growing rate for hair and make up?

Re: Bridesmaid questions

I don't know- I feel like they say that to get you to pay more.
I am 5 9 and ordered a BM dress in a regular lenght and they had to still take a ton off the length.
Not sure what brand that was though.

Is there any way to get the exact measurement of the dress so you can see what the length is before you decide if you need the extra?

Re: Bridesmaid questions

I would get the regular length. I'm 5'6" and wore a bill levkoff dress to my friends wedding 2 years ago and they still had to take off new less than 3" from the bottom...and it was still a tad too long.

Hair and makeup I recently paid $185 for both at my SIL's wedding in September.

Re: Bridesmaid questions

how high are the shoes? for $20, id just give it for my own sanity. Does the bride want the extra fabric from the dresses to wrap your bouquet with?

as far as make up, i always go to the mac counter. $50 or 5 products ( depends on store ) if all the girls are getting it done together (bless your hearts), it depends who the bride picks.

hair $100

if youre on your own, go to the dry bar or a salon
these are all things that should be discussed with the bride. She may have plans of her own

I've gotten a couple of bill levkoff dresses and I don't think you need to get the extra length at all.

ETA: I'm 5'6 and I had to get them all hemmed- you're one inch taller so you might even need it hemmed a bit, or it would be just perfect

No, I don't think so. I'm 5'9" and have always gotten extra length.. I need an inch maybe, and they usually cut off 5" or 6".

Bill L runs long as it is, in my opinion. I would leave it.

Don't bother unless you have your heart set on 6 inch heals.

I was on the fence and decided to go with regular length. My seamstress took off. I'm glad I didn't pay more.

Re: Bridesmaid questions

I would think regular length would be fine.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to see if I can get the measurement for the length. $15-20 isn't a lot of money, but I don't need it, I'd prefer to save it.

As for hair and make up, she has someone coming. I think everyone in the party is doing it so I'm probably going to get it done with everyone else. I just wanted to check out what an average price is.

All the weddings I've been in this far have been very close friends or family and have been very go with the flow.
